Glad I'm off tomorrow because I imagine there would be some pissed off Cub bettors that watched them take a lead 6-5 and then we can tell them it will be a loss 5-2.
Huh? is the response and it seems like it is in the rules, but a very bad rule.
Sounds like one of those painful Barrera-Juarez bad beats.

Must have rained, right? Tell them to learn the rules. Nothing you can do.

Dumb rule.

Baseball games should have to go 9 innings. All other sports need to play almost the entire game.

No way should a Cub bettor NOT get paid or a Pirate bettor win his money. The pirates didn't win the game in real life. How could a bettor win?

Plus if you paid the Cub bettors it wouldn't be fair to the pirate because they didn't get the same amount of at bats. Stupid, stupid rule!

Like I said, a no win situation for the books. You either piss off customers for something out of your control, or you pay both sides and lose money.

Since when did they start suspending games and not making it a FINAL score with the cubs ahead 6-5? Thats MLB, not sportsbooks..

I think every book needs to apply their own rules as written and grade accordingly. Some say it reverst to the last full inning played; some don't. Those that do have to grade it a Pitt win; those that don't should grade it no action because the game will be played on a different date. This will be a good lesson for books to read and apply their own rules. Most books have the revert back rule. But some don't. Those that don't should not be grading this a Pitt win.

The Cubs were up 6-5 and Pirates had 3 at bat innings to play as opposed to 2 for Cubs. What was this a guaranteed Cub victory or something? Same rationale that prompts all these clowns to continually bet on Cubs I guess. Cubs' bettors just pay up and quit whining as the rules have been the same as long as I can remember and are logical and fair. Had no bet on game myself other than my under84 wins for season on Cubs which I doubt will come down to one game any way.

IN reality, this is just sort of an extended rain delay. Why not treat it as such. So they delayed it for about 13 hours. They are picking up right where they left off. Strange to grade a ML winner when there was no ML winner. Think about that.

If someone had asked a day ago if you could come up with a way for a team to win their game and have the bettors lose on the ML (not including subsequent protests) could you have come up with it? I alwasy would have thought a ML could win only if the team was declared the winner of the match. I guess not.

I agree BUT not every book's rules read the same way on this. Every book ought to apply their OWN rules as written.

No, this is bullshit. I had the Cubs for this game. The Cubs won.

End of story.

It was just like an overnight rain delay. How can the Pirates be considered a WIN when they actually LOST this game?

I am proposing an updated rule that says if a suspended game is played within 24 hours of the suspension that the game and all of it's wagers be carried over. If it is not completed by then, the old rule would then kick in. This would be fair considering the original reason for the rule when all tickets were handwritten is now obsolete. Anybody else agree?

I don't understand how the Cubs bet can be graded a loss. I could see no action, but the game was SUSPENDED (NOT CANCELLED) when the Cubs were winning. They then went on to win the game. How is it that the sportsbooks reverted back to the end of the 6th inning score but MLB did not?

Truthfully, the books' rule is antiquaited now that MLB has changed the way they determine the winner and the books should revise their rule accordingly. Last year this game would have been cancelled and reverted back to the last completed inning and Pitts would have won the game. So the books rule works fine for that scenario, now they should update the rule for the MLB rule change. However, the problem arises when the game isn't finished for a week or month or ever if both teams are out of the race.

Probably should be graded a no action IMO.

Books need to get with the times. MLB changed the rules this past offseason on how this is handled....it's no longer reverted back to last inning of play with visiting team losing after scoring runs. MLB changed rules, time for the books to change as well. Can't believe books would not change with the MLB rule change.:think2:
