I am new at betting on baseball and was hopeing that i might get a few answers here before i get rolling.
1. I have noticed that many of you bet ML on baseball games more than i have seen in other sports, is that the prefered method for baseball?

2. What do you guys look for in a match-up. I would imagine it is alittle different wagering on baseball since they are series' not single games.

I would imagine most of you guys look more for pitching match-ups than anything else since that is what I look for, but if anyone has anything else that they are willing to share i would appreciate it alot. Thanks in advance.

The most common way to bet MLB is on the ML. If you want to get involved with spreads, you can take the favorite -1.5 or the dog +1.5. That's called the runline, but most don't fool with that.

Looking at pitching matchups is certainly important in picking a winner, but that's what everyone looks at. So in my opinion, you have to find your edge in other aspects of the matchup. My favorite way is to play the streaks - I'm a firm believer that a team on a 3-game losing streak will not play as well as they would if they were on a 3-game winning streak.

Best of luck! Hopefully others will chime in with their thoughts.

My best advice is to follow every game closely, regardless of whether you had action on it. This gives you a "feel."

For example, read & analyze the box scores every day. From my experience, the best way to cap a game is to be immersed in that sport.

Here we go!

4/02
Milwaukee -145

St. Louis starter Reyes (0-4) with a 5.71 ERA pitching against the NL East leading Brew-Crew. Brewers have 4-0 Capuano on the bump who has a respectable 3.21 ERA. The players for the Cards seem to be still struggling with the loss of their teammate Josh Hancock, and rightfully so. However a 10-15 St. Louis can not expect to beat the better team in Milwaukee with less than their full focus. Looking for the better team to take care of business here.
