im guessing bonds/kent had to be awfully good in the early part of the decade, even if they did hate each other.

How about any of the current/recent Yanks permutations? A-Rod & *?

Or maybe Pujols/Edmonds a few years back?

A-Rod and Sheffield...

253 Rbis's
82 Hr's
.300 BA

How about Albert Belle and Jim Thome on Cleveland

86 Hr's
264 RBI's
311 BA

Frank Thomas and Albert Belle

261 RBI's
78 HR's
290 BA

My Favorite one of all time Roberto Alomar and Manny
only 68 HR's but
285 RIB's
and a 330 BA

Lets just say the Cleveland Indians in the 1990's period

2001
Juan Gone and Thome
84 HR's
264 RBI's
310 BA

So to answer your question no... There have been equal almost every year

Are we talking one year here...he did say post 1970 too.

I thought of Lynn and Rice but they would pale in comparison...different era though for sure....Best rookie combo though for sure.

Belle and Thomas had some years but from what I recall one or the other was having an off year when they were together.

Off the top of my head from 1970 onward...

1971 Stargell and Clemente come to mind, they won it all that year and both were great , Stargell was MVP like with 48 HR and Clemente had a phenomenal post season (WS MVP) and batted .341 in reg season

Cecil Cooper-Gorman Thomas!!

1979 Coop 44 doubles 24 HR 106 RBI, GT 45-123
1980 Coop .352 25 HR 122 RBI, GT 38-105
plus have you ever seen a fat slop like Thomas play center field and great center field at that.

I loved Cooper around that time...he wore out the AL around that time....cool player, smooth....he was like power hitting Rod Carew.
