This system is getting DESTROYED so far this week!!! Does anyone have figures on the profitablity of this system over the years. In theory the system makes sense, but Im thinking of a few ways I could tweak it. Jusst wondered how it has done in say the last 8-10 years.

I've done the Stoffo system as closely as I can so far, and I'm 32-40, -0.56 units. Started out very badly, down over 9 units almost immediately, then rallied. I was actually up over 3 units until this week.

If people want to follow the Stoffo Underdog system, then I suggest you check drew15's thread for the Ultimate Underdog system. He has shown sufficient proof that he originally created this system years before the Stoffo system came into the picture. Wilheim was involved in the thread last month where this came into the picture.

Keep in mind, drew15 also made adjustments to the popular system over the years that he is using now (one adjustment is that he chooses to start the UU system after 3 weeks.... or was that 3 pitching starts, drew15?). In any case, any losses in first 3 weeks wouldn't be counted.

I myself will start tailing the UU system now that I'm back in the saddle making bets for the month of May.

Hi Calvin. I did wait for 3 turns through the rotation, and started then. I read Drew's thread on this earlier, is he posting picks based on his system? It would help, because for example, yesterday I bet against the Dodgers, and see this morning that Hendrickson now qualifies as a top 20 pitcher. Yesterday, he didn't have enough innings, and I lost playing against him. I'm not sure how to handle borderline cases like that, but I've bet it as loyally to the rules that I can up to now. Thanks.

Never mind, I just rubbed the sand out of my eyes, and see he's posting under "across the pond."

LOL. Actually, I am not sure if this is figuratively or literally speaking. He's in UK, and I don't see him posting "across the street"...

So I am not sure what that "across the pond" means... :)

Correct....since starting after 3rd week, the system has tanked big time the past 6 days or so.....something along the lines of 5-14 or so.

The UK is commonly referred to as being "across the pond".

I'm also "across the street" so if I had missed him in 2 different places, I'd really have to consider assisted living.:think2:

The system has been going through a bad spell, but I'm still up a few units.

I played this last year and it's very streaky.

What I do is: if a pitcher's not in the Sagarin top 20 because he doesn't have enough innings, but would be there if he did have enough innings, then I don't play against him. I pass any game where the pitcher I'd be playing against doesn't have 3 starts regardless of his ERA.

There are still going to be grey areas. Depending on when you place your bets a team can be a fav or a dog. Also, a team can be a no play at one book and a play at another.

In these grey areas, I think the important thing is to decide how you're going to handle it and be consistent.

Thanks Puccini. Question, are the pitchers not qualifying due to lack of innings listed on the Sagarin page?

i started after 3 starts... this is my 3rd week using the system w/ a few tweaks

use it as a basis, and make minor adjustments based on your handicapping skills

you can check my thread for results so far this season, been rough this week but still up so far for season, hitting a high of +14 units and now at +9

good luck
