I am feeling good today, got jobbed by the Twins bullpen last night and by some other bullshit so back on the high horse we go.

KANSAS CITY ROYALS ML +120

I don't think I have ever won a bet on the Royals in my entire life but there is always a time for firsts. However, this is the rubber match between these two teams and I see that a ton of people are on the Angels right now which is a big mistake. Nothing has really gone right as usual for the Royals and they have a shot at winning their first series of the season right here and right now. So how fitting that their ace be on the mound even though he has not pitched all that well. What you have to understand is that Jered Weaver is getting too much respect in this game and I say that because the team is 1-2 in his last three starts and his ERA in those games is 5.40. You also have to consider that the team does not support him much with runs as they average 3.0 runs per game the last three times he has pitched and that could be a problem. Meche on the other hand has enjoyed 5.3 runs of support per game in his last three starts and although he gives up a ton of base hits, he doesn't walk many guys and he seems to have a nice touch when it comes to getting out of big jams. The Angels are batting only .217 on the road versus right handed pitchers this year and like I said before, the Royals are bound to finally win a series...this is a great spot to take them. Meche is not your typical gamebreaking ace but does get the job done and I think this team is going to rally around him for the HUGE win.

I truely agree on your selection taking the Royals. Just wanted to let you know that it is actually a 4-game series and this is game 4 with the angels winning 2 of 3 thus far. I know the game is in play right now, but just wanted to let you know in case your play was based a lot on the Royals trying to win their first series.

After winning big and correctly predicting that the Royals would avoid a sweep in this series and possibly win their first series of the year, its now back to business. I love the Red Sox the most in the early games but the price sucks so I move on to play #2 which comes with a much easier price tag to deal with. Here we go:

TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS ML -112

Much like the Kansas City Royals, it is not often that you find me ever betting on the Devil Rays. I don't think I have ever won a wager when betting on these Devil Rays but last night's come from behind extra innings win should be enough to get this team going and give them a pretty damn big confidence boost. That's how young teams work. It's pretty demoralizing for the Twins to have their closer come in, record 2 outs and then blow a two run lead in the ninth inning. I am very much aware that the Minnesota can kill right handed pitchers on the road (they are hitting .345 versus righties away from home) but I am also confident that James Shield is going to make enough key pitches to lead his team to a win. His only start against the Twins he got rocked, but he is a different pitcher now and he has been one of the best pitchers in MLB over his last three starts. Shileds has 26 strikeouts in his last three starts and has pitched a full 8 innings in both his last two starts at home against Cleveland and on the road against Oakland. He has a WHIP of 0.85 in those games and his team has provided him with 5.0 runs of support in those games although two of them losses. Shields struckout 9 in Oakland and a whopping 12 against Cleveland. Ramon Ortiz has also been a great pitcher in his last three starts and he is 6-1 career versus the Devil Rays. But like I mentioned before, the Devil Rays are going to use last night's win to catapult them to better things tonight. I also want to point out that home plater umpire Angel Hernandez seems to love home teams. Seeing how both pitchers have been red hot, that can only mean we are in for a shootout. Regardless, the Twins are going to be reluctant to use their pen after last night's collapse and they'll probably leave Ortiz in there for one inning too much (costly inning that is). It might not be pretty tonight but the Devil Rays will win this wild one and the price for Shields at home is too good to pass up.

GL, Rays and Royals in the same day? Now you're pressing your luck, haha.

I thought hard about this one but I don't like the Rays lineup too much without Young in it.

Alright well it looks like the money train is running full steam ahead today like it was before I took my big break. Nice to see some things just don't change in this sport and my capping strategy is still in business. So after pushing my luck and winning with both the Royals and D-Rays in the same day, it's time to move in for the kill tonight and I can't wait to end my day on a winning note. Things have been good and now it's time to make them better. Here we go:

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS ML -150

I wanted to bomb away on these guys last night but missed the cutoff. Nothing has really changed since last night other than the Giants now having to face a righty at home which could be more of a challenge. The Phillies are not the kind of team you want to back on the road as they have only 6 wins in 14 games away from home and they have hit only .244 in those games. I know the price seems at bit high at first but you have to understand something. The Giants come into this series beaming with confidence after regaining their winning touch and winning a series (after being swept by the D-Backs) and you know as well as I do that when this team is rolling, they are rolling. The value on this line comes with the fact that the Giants have not been winning when Matt Cain is on the mound. They are 1-2 in his last three starts but what people don't realize is that Cain is due for a win having allowed only 6 hits in his last three starts, making that 6 hits in 22.0 innings of work. I think in a few years he won't be anything less than -200 when pitching at home. Hitters are hitting only .160 against him in this ballpark this season and that can't be good for a Phillies team that has struggled to hit on the road. On the other side of the mound is Adam Eaton who has allowed a whopping 22 hits in his last three starts...nuff said about that. No reason for him to be any better in this ballpark tonight. The only issue has been run support for Cain but I think these guys are going to get the ball rolling tonight and get him some runs. The Phillies have sucked ass as underdogs going 1-6 in their last seven dog situations while the Giants are 5-1 the last six times Matt Cain is the starting pitcher in Game 1 of a series. Enough is enough. The Phillies have dominated the Giants here in seasons past, the Giants have not hooked up their young ace with any run support and all that is about to change tonight. Cain deserves better and he's about to get better. If anyone else was on the mound for the Phillies, this could be a different story but Eaton has been horrendous. Like I said, its only a matter of time before the books hike Cain's lines to -200...take the value while it's there.
