Anyone else love Any Given Saturday in the Derby this weekend...?

Just looking over the card and reading into the horses and I love this horse. John Velazquez is riding great right now and will be a big factor in this race. In one of the stronger Derby fields in a long time, I think this horse has a real shot at winning this.

I think he wins the race this weekend and but his price I think will go down on Derby day... He will not go off at what he is at right now...

What do you guys think?
Who do you like and why?

Your're confusing me. You love a horse, but you're referencing Circular quay Jockey. Garrett Gomez is riding Any Given Sunday. I hate to say it but ejtheman you have no shot. Also how can you Love a horse in this big field?

My fault on the Jockey. Originally read that Gomez was riding him then read somewhere else, with a more recent date that Velazquez was riding him... I originally wrote the thread with Gomez in there and stumbled across an article from a couple weeks ago talking about a switch to Velazquez. I am an idiot... and I love him because I think he wins the race. You have to like someone........?

This was the line from Road to the Roses that I read that confused me on Jockey selection...

"Any Given Saturday is owned by Winstar Farms, Trained by Todd Pletcher and ridden by John R. Velazquez. Pletcher, well known in 2006 as the number two trainer in the number of wins and number one in earnings at over $26 million dollars. He broke his mentor, D. Wayne Lucas' record of 92 stakes victories on October 5, 2006 and this year is almost guaranteed to exceed his earnings record in 2007."

My mistake... Liked him more with Gomez but still liked him with Velazquez.

You just answered my ? by saying you have to like somebody. I like a few horses but not AGS. My picks are Scat Daddy, Nobizlikeshowbiz, but I don't love them. I hope i can get lucky. Need a good trip and hope the horse you love has a bad trip.

I know but I always try and find one horse who really stands out to me. 2-3 years ago I won like 700 on the Trifecta in the Derby. I try to find one horse, who if he runs a good line, should win the race. It is tough to do but I just feel if this horse can get a good trip and not get bumped out the gate he has a shot to win me some money. I will probably do a couple exacta Boxes with him and hope his number doesn't come down to much.

But no I don't know anyone with that nick name. Why you ask?

I thought you might know him. E Bev works in production for 670 am the score. I know him from the Oakbrook Terrace OTB. He's a good guy and I was just curious to know if you new him. He used to work on the Mike North show. But now I believe he helps with other shows on the score. No other reason really. Just curiosity.

This race is so hard to figure out.....There are 10 horses that have a shot and another 10 that could be there..Makes no sense I know, but that is how wide open it is. Go down to the Horse forum, there are many picks and selections for you....I will wait to see how this track comes up, as it was sloppy as hell today, and more rain expected tomorrow..........G

Thanks... Yeah I know 10 horses have a shot. I am hoping that he runs a good race and is in it at the end. The horse can run the distance and seems to get stronger as the race goes on. Hopefully he will be mid pack when he makes his run.

Suppose to be a really strong field. This one just stood out.

I feel Any Given Saturday has a tough go of it in this race. Post 18 will not be an easy thing to overcome. He's not a true closer. So he needs to head up to the front of the pack. But I will say this if he can just float out and stay on Stormello's heels and find a good spot that would help. With Domincan and Great Hunter on his outside he shouldn't get pinched. And with Deep closers like Tiago and Circular Quay on his inside they won't hinder him making his way over to be only 3 or 4 wide at the 1st turn.

Hey it's horse racing any thing can happen. Horse racing is not like betting sports. Way way more difficult.

You are correct Labeeb knows his shit. Only 3 starts for Curlin makes him a tough play. And also could get buried on the rail.
