Some of the games I attended that were out of the ordinary were
#1 Either in 87 or 88 I went to a Phillies games and the Phillies pitcher Kevin Gross was tossed out of the game for having sandpaper on his glove. I was 11 or 12 and i think it was against the Cubs or Expos.
#2 Either 92 or 93 I went to an Orioles game against Seattle. During Seattle's batting batting practice I was right next to their dugout on the right side getting autographs. It sounded like Bill Hassleman (a backup catcher) cracked his bat. He went into the dugout and put white tape on it. I asked him for the bat. I can't remember what he said, but he went in for another round of BP. He came back to the dugout and put more tape on it. I asked him again. He didn't answer. He took another round. When he was finally done, I asked him a third time, he got all pissy and said "here kid, take the bat". I was excited since it was the 1st cracked bat I got at a MLB game. Anyway, during Hasslemans first at bat he hit a homer (possibly a grand slam) of Mussina. Hassleman's next at bat he got pluncked by Mussina. This started a huge brawl. Relief pitchers were jumping down from the outfield wall. The fight lasted about 10 minutes. Weird coincidence.
#3 This is a minor one. I was getting autographs next to the dugout at a Scranton/Wilkes barre Red Barons game AAA of Phillies at the time. In 89 or 90 Toledo's manager was Johnny Wockenfuss. He used to be a major league catcher. Either at the end of batting practice or prior to the players coming back into the dugout 30 minutes before the game, I turned and saw Wockenfuss fighting w/ a player. I can't remember who. The player was trying to choke Wockenfuss with both hands or vice versa. It was real and the players/coaches quickly broke it up. Strange to say the least.
