Ok whatever story you guys have about any sportsbook, this story takes the freaking cake.

A friend of mine, who used to have a huuuge gambling problem that almost made him lose everything, had stopped gambling and was working a normal 9-5

He gets an email from a crappy sportsbook, he hadn't used in 2 years and it tells him happy Birth Day, you have 50 bucks sitting in your account.

OK he says what the hell, i stopped gambling but, 50 free bucks i cant just let sit there

So he logs into the site, and sees the money there, he takes it into a baccarat table and starts betting small.

Ok long story short after a half hour he builds his stack up to 5K :suomi:

OK here is where it gets interesting, this is a guy who really needs money, and hasn't gambled in years.

In the past he would have tried to make 10K+ now he has control, and he wants to cash out the 5K

He calls up the sportsbook, and tells them he wants to cash out, they put him on hold for ten minutes and than tell him, "sorry to inform you, but the max cashout from a free money bonus is 100 bucks" :monsters-

Than the CS rep tells him to read the rules and reg next time, my friend asks if the rep is sure, the rep responds he is 100% sure, the max he can withdraw is 100 bucks

My friend is really pissed and bummed :discuss:, but copes with the "rules"

Just for the hell of it, he enters the table again and says for Shits and Giggles how much theoretically could he have built it up to, he starts betting crazy bets for fun, all the time laughing

He kept betting 500 on stupid 10-1 odds

10 minutes later his stack is down to 300 and he wants to cashout the 100 he could, he calls up and tells them he wants to cashout 100, the Rep tells him "sir you can withdraw the full ampunt of 300 if you like" :monsters-:monsters-:think2::realtongu:nohead:

He's like, but the previous rep told me its max 100 with the bonus money, she tells him thats only for new customers, he is an existing customer so all the money is available for him. :discuss::youmad:

My friend is now really really pissed!

They played a game on him i am sure, and he now has been drawn back into the gambling ring, and he told me that he has to put money into a sportsbook now to make "back" the 5K or he wont be able to sleep for a while.

This Fucking free 50 possibly can ruin his life again

Now whoever read this far, you tell me the sportsbook, wasn't doing anything they can to avoid payment, i mean does he have any chance of getting some of his money back? :smoker2:

Did he read the rules? The rule about being an existing customer? That is a tough one, what book was it?

Of course i ragged him about reading the rules part, but hindsight is 20/20

He believed the rep knew the rules, i doubt many people actually read the rules

but for 5K i guess he should have.

I asked him which book it was, i will get the name from him later when i speak to him, but he told me which one, i forgot it, because it was one of those dime a dozen sites, which just sounds like a crap book.

Nothing hangin on any banners i am sure

Deal!

But does my friend have any legal rights?

I am no lawyer, but i expect one will be along shortly.

Though you have the right to:

1] negotiate a deal/compromise in secret and failing that

2] to inform them privately of your intent to give them free
"advertising" about this matter at 100 online forums and if
they still remain unyielding then

3] carry through with the threat with 10 of those for starters

Name the book and spead the story.
Your friend should have read the rules, but at the same time the CS Rep was hired to do a job and your friend was lied too. They might have a recording (a long shot but if its a well know book they might) so see if the MOD's here can make some calls.

Bottom line is, the book may have played your friend. He works it up to 5k, calls for a cashout and when they tell him he can only WD $100, they see if he's going to play with it again (for the hell of it like you said) and thats when they alert the casino manager on duty and they make it almost 99.9 % that he loses every hand he plays.

Name the site so people will avoid.

I can name it now, but shouldnt i warn them before i start naming them?

What the hell, they screwed him they deserve no warning, the site is NOT a sportsbook, it is only a casino site

its called goldennilecasino.com

Think it in this way. A free $300 is still pretty good, but guess it's human nature, always focus on something you missed, rather than something you have already achieved.

Buddy its not that he lost it, its how he lost it.

It really stung him, and this happened 3 days ago

i mean he really is having a hard time coping with this loss, and he cant even tell his own freaking wife because he swore off gambling, but like he told me 50 free bucks is not called "gambling", its like scratching off the numbers in the daily newspaper to see if you won

It could possibly be very hard to prove what he was told about the $100 limit, unless he saved the IM which can be doctored anyway.

The worst part of this all it sounds like it woke up the demon inside him and that is a shame. ...you know he would probably lose this money back and more eventually, by the way you descibe him.

BTW he called through phone, and he doubts they kept the call

Of course i am worried now about him, this is a guy who had real serious gambling problems and he is not making much money, plus he has got a wife and 2 kids now to support so he had to stop gambling.

what sickens me is that he told me, when he was driving home from work the other day it hit him, he is driving a one thousand dollar car and he could have had 5K right now

Its hard to swallow and it didnt happen to me even

At this time, focusing on 'how he lost it' doesn't help at all. Like journeyman said , it's time to overcome the demon inside him.

Sucks but highly doubt he will ever see the money. Just do what you can to get him to move past it

honestly I am more worried about the dude. Somehow you need to make him understand that getting back into gambling is the worst possible decision he could make.

Its easier said than done, he understands that its the worst possible thing for him, but he said that he has been up the last 3 nights thinking about it

He should call them back and try to get proof with a
secretly taped phone conversation. Then he'd have
them by the balls.

Even if there is proof that they told him this, it isn't really grounds to recover the rest of the money that was lost. Its not like they forced him to go back to the tables and dump all his money. He could have withdrawn the 100 and then waited to see what he could about getting the rest of the cash.

This guy is a bad gambler for a reason.
