Service Play Spreadsheet
<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
The biggest surprise on Saturday was that Power Play of the Day lost for only the third time all season, bringing their record to 9~3 (75%). Power Play had previously been ranked at the very top of the first group with an 82% winning rate, but that honor now belongs to Michael Cannon (15* & 20* Plays) who is 9~2 (82%) and Ben Eckstein, who is 8~2 (80%).

Perhaps the strongest looking service is Panhandle, who has a 22~8 (73%) record. With almost three times as many tracked plays as the other services at the top of the list, Panhandle has shown consistency and staying power and is probably worthy of a tail.

Service Fade Spreadsheet

The best fades on the board, MTI and Larry Ness (Bonus Plays), were inactive on our spreadsheet for Saturday. This opened up the door for Stu Feiner (200* Plays) to break into the top three on the fades sheet. Stu Feiner went 0~1, bring his record down to 7~13 (35%).

Navigation Note

We are now on page three of the spreadsheets. For anyone wishing to view previously tracked plays for services (who is unfamiliar with navigating Excel spreadsheets), all you need to do is simply click on the tabs located at the bottom left corner labeled “sheet 1”, “sheet 2” and “sheet3”. These tabs will allow you to see all the previously tracked plays from each service.

Also, when viewing previously tracked plays, if you cannot find a particular service on the Service Play sheet, then check for them on the Service Fade sheet (and vice versa). Odds are that the service you are looking for is hovering around a 50% winning percentage (which is the cutoff point between the Play sheets and the Fade sheets) and that service probably flip-flops between these two sheets from day to day.

Note: I had to eliminate the very first page of the spreadsheets. I was unable to upload the spreadsheets with all three pages of previous stats / win-loss records....the file size was too large. I will keep all the previous records saved on my PC, but the forum will only be able to view two pages of spreadsheet tabs per spreadsheet due to file size restrictions.

Game: Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants May 6 2007 8:05PM

Prediction: San Francisco Giants

Reason: I love the way the Giants have rebounded from their 2-7 start and used them as my Bonus Play yesterday, when they beat these Phils, 9-4. They enter this Sunday night game 14-6 their last 20 and look to take this four-games series from the Phils with Tim Lincecum making his ML debut. The right-hander has been dominating this year with Triple-A Fresno. Over five starts, Lincecum was 4-0 with an 0.29 ERA, allowing one run and 12 hits in 31 innings. He's also struck out 46, including 14 in a game last Sunday! He'll face Philadelphia's promising young lefty, Cole Hamels in this one. Hamels made 23 starts last year (team was 13-10), posting a 4.08 ERA while going 9-8 . Back on April 21, he pitched a CG five-hitter with 15 Ks but in his two starts since, has allowed 17 hits and eight ERs in 12.2 innings (5.68 ERA), while striking out 10 and walking six. The Giants struggled against lefties away from home LY but in AT&T Park, went 10-6 against them. This year, the Giants have started great against lefties (anywhere), entering this game 7-3 in 10 games when facing a left-handed starter. TV Game of the Week 15* SF Giants.

At 4:40 pm our selection is on the New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks 'under' the total. With a record of 16-16, the Arizona Diamondbacks are hanging in there and in a wide-open National League West, they may be able to surprise some folks by the time all is said and done. One big reason has been their pitching, especially that of their bullpen. So far this season, the D-Backs relievers have an ERA of 2.69, which is one of the best in the NL. Speaking of best in the NL, the Mets have the best ERA in the NL overall, and that certainly is not surprising. And it could get even worse for opposing teams when they get Pedro Martinez back. Right now they are keeping their team ERA low even with a bit of a patchwork list of starters which includes tonight's pitcher, righthander Mike Pelfrey. Pelfrey's 0-3 record is not all his own fault, as the Mets really haven't supported him at the plate when he's been out there. In fact, New York has only scored a total of 13 runs in Pelfrey's 4 starts which is just slightly more than 3 runs per start and it would be hard for any pitcher to have a decent record with that kind of run support. Unfortunately, it may not get any easier today for Pelfrey and the Mets as they have to face one of the biggest workhorses of any rotation in baseball, righty Livan Hernandez. Hernandez has been outstanding this season and he's had 5 quality starts in 6 total outings so far. The under is 6-2 in New York's last 8 games as the favorite, and 8-2-1 in Arizona's last 11 games as an underdog. Take the 'under'. As always, good luck...Al McMordie

Marc Lawrence

Red Sox send ace right hander Curt Schilling up against Sidney Ponson and the Twins in the finale of their series in Minnesota today. With Schilling in great KW form and 8-4 in his L12 starts in May, and Ponson owning a 6.69 ERA in 19 career team starts against the Bosox, look for Boston to come up big here today.

Jimmy The Moose

Boston is 16-5 in the last 21 games they have been favored in. The Red Sox are 7-2 in their last 9 on the road. Today they send Schilling to the mound and his 3-1 record. The Twins counter with Ponso who has been hard this season but has received good run support. Don't expect the Twins to score many runs on Schilling this afternoon. The Twins are 1-4 in their last 5 games as the home dog. Play on the Red Sox -.

Larry Ness' Weekend Wipeout Winner (7-3 this week)

Game: Oakland Athletics at Tampa Bay Devil Rays May 6 2007 1:40PM

Prediction: Oakland Athletics

Reason: The A's have alternated wins and losses the last six games and after a 3-2 loss in 12 innings last night at Tampa Bay, are in line for a win today. Clearly that's NOT the reason I'm taking the A's. The reason is a chance to go against Edwin Jackson of Tampa Bay, who hasn't won a game in the majors since 2005. All but one of his 23 appearances in 2006 (when he posted a 5.45 ERA) came in relief but for some reason (?), the Devil Rays have placed him in their starting rotation this year. They've lost each one of his five previous starts in 2007, as opponents have hit .319 against him in 22 innings. He's allowed 29 hits and 18 ERs for an ERA of 7.36! Joe Blanton, a 16-game winner LY, gets the start for Oakland and he's suffered from lack of support in '07. He's allowed three runs or less in FOUR of his six starts TY, posting a respectable ERA of 3.82 (down from 4.82 LY). Also of note for Blanton is he's allowed just 34 hits in 40 innings, after allowing 241 hits in 194.1 innings last season. The A's have had trouble scoring all season (not just for Blanton) but Edwin Jackson should take care of that. Remember, the Devil Rays have been last-place team in EIGHT of the club's nine seasons, while The A's have been a playoff regular this decade. Weekend Wipeout Winner on the Oak A's.

RED SOX -1 ½ RUN LINE (With Schilling and Ponson as listed pitchers)

Take the Red Sox on the run line today over the Twins.

I know it’s a risk taking the road team on the run line, but if Boston can’t hit Sidney Ponson today, they won’t hit anybody. Considering the BoSox have one of the best hitting lineups in baseball, I think it’s a safe bet taking them on the run line, especially behind Curt Schilling. The right-hander has lasted at least seven innings in each of his last five starts, holding opponents to two or fewer runs in four of those outings. He has also fared well against Minnesota in his career, going 1-0 with a 1.03 ERA and four saves in nine career games, including three starts. He has allowed only three runs through 26 1-3 innings, striking out 19 while walking only three. Boston shouldn’t have any problems getting runs today against Sidney Ponson. The right-hander is 3-10 with a 6.69 ERA in 19 career starts against Boston.

Take the Red Sox on the run line as they win by at least two today.

GIANTS (With Lincecum as listed pitcher)

Take the Giants today at a small plus return for the home win.

San Francisco will start Tim Lincecum tonight. The right-hander is their top pitching prospect and he gets to make his major league debut in front of a national audience. Normally I go against a player in this situation, but Lincecum appears to be the real deal. He was selected 10th overall in the 2006 first-year player draft from Washington and has absolutely dominated this year with Triple-A Fresno. Lincecum was 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA in five starts, allowing one run and just 12 hits in 31 innings. He struck out 46 and walked only 11. Philadelphia will send Cole Hamels to the mound, and the young southpaw has struggled a bit in his last two starts, going 1-1 with a 5.68 ERA. I feel that Lincecum will turn in a spectacular debut tonight and the Giants will provide him with the run support needed to gain the win.

Take the Giants at a small plus return for the home win.

My free pick of the day is the game between (955) WAS Nationals and (956) CHI Cubs. Take "(956) CHI Cubs". Angry Lou Piniella certainly got the Cubs to start playing better! The Cubs ripped off a 6-1 record, beating all 6 righties they faced. They face another righty here in Washington's Shawn Hill. The Cubbies bring up hard throwing Angel Guzman (8 strikeouts in 7 innings), but the kid catches a nice break as he faces a team last in the NL in offense. Washington is hitting just .229 while averaging a ridiculous 3 runs per game! The Nationals are 5-10 on the road after letting their best offensive players leave over the winter. Derrek Lee and Alfonso Soriano are leading the Cubs resurgent offense (Soriano has a team-high 13-game hitting streak). Another win for the Cubbies over the NL doormats. Play the Cubs!

Dave Cokin (Free Pick)

My free pick of the day is the game between (965) PHI Phillies and (966) SF Giants. Take "(966) SF Giants". Dave's Arena Football League Game of the Year goes Sunday. Make sure to score what should be another very easy big game winner for just $50 at Dave's Pure Gold Club!... "It's the debut for Giants rookie Tim Lincecum, and wait till you see this rookie righthander. Lincecum has one of the most unusual deliveries I've ever seen, one that looks like a pinwheel. He's been toying with minor league hitters and I envision the big league batters finding him tough as well, right from the outset. Cole Hamels is a very tough opponent, but I'm one who frequently will back rookies in their first journey through the league, and I have no reservations about taking my chances with Lincecum and the Giants tonight."

HOME TEAM IN CAPS

All games are listed pitchers unless stated otherwise.

Houston +1.31 over ST. LOUIS PINNACLE

The Cardinals are in pretty rough shape and after the inevitable World Series hangover they’re now dealing with the untimely death of Josh Hancock. The Cards have lost six of seven and yesterday the Astros bashed them 13-0. St. Louis is now 11-17 and they’re not doing anything right. Their bats are cold, the bullpen has an ERA of over 5 and the starting pitching has an ERA of 6.27. Sure Braden Looper has been a bright spot but this has very little to do with wagering against him. This wager is all about taking back a price against an emotionally beat up Cardinal team that has not shown any desire to win whatsoever. Chris Sampson has been very sharp in four of his five outings and that includes cooling down the red-hot Brewers in his last start. The Cards have never seen Sampson and that, too, works in our favor. Play: Houston +1.31 (Risking 2 units).

SAN FRANCISCO +1.25 over Philadelphia PINNACLE

The Phillies are favored here because Cole Hamels has given them quality innings all season and because the Giants will start a rookie pitcher whom will be making his first start in the majors. However, this is no ordinary rookie who’s filling in for someone. Remember the name Tim Lincecum, as this rookie has earned his shot in the majors after completely dominating the minors. Linecum was selected 10th overall in the 2006 first-year player draft from Washington and with Triple-A Fresno this season he was 4-0 in five starts with an 0.29 ERA, allowing one run and 12 hits in 31 innings. He's also struck out 46, including 14 last Sunday against Colorado Springs. He’s simply been dazzling and the whole team is excited. The Giants are in a groove and they’ll be a little extra motivated to give the kid some run support here. Play: San Francisco +1.25 (Risking 2 units).

Detroit –1.01 over KANSAS CITY PINNACLE

What we have here is the hottest team in baseball laying an extremely cheap price against the American League’s worst team. Only the Nationals in the NL have fewer wins then Kansas City. The reason the line is so cheap is because the Tigers will send Char Durbin to the hill and his numbers on paper do not look good at all. Durbin comes in with a 1-1 record and a 6.48 ERA in five starts. However, what those numbers don’t tell you is that the inflated ERA he possess occurred in his first two starts of the season when he was scorched. In three starts since then Durbin’s ERA is an impressive 3.24. The Royals will send Zack Greinke to the hill and nobody will ever know what to expect from Grienke. He’s talented for sure but he’s also mentally unstable and wagering on him is a big risk. If he’s not feeling right he’ll get smoked and if he is feeling right he could still get smoked. Greinke is winless in his last four starts and earlier in the year when he faced the Tigers he didn’t make it out of the third inning. Sounds like a pretty reasonable wager to us. Play Detroit –1.01 (Risking 2.02 units to win 2).

Analysis: The ESPN Sunday Night Baseball spotlight will be shining by the Bay in San Francisco, and it will have nothing to do with Barry Bonds. That's because Bonds will be taking the day off after hitting his 744th career homer in Saturday's 9-4 victory. Instead, prized rookie Tim Lincecum will make his first career start for the Giants after going 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA in five starts at Triple-A Fresno. Lincecum allowed just one run and 12 hits in 31 innings, striking out 46, including 14 last Sunday. It's hard to believe Philadelphia lefty Cole Hamels (3-1, 3.54 ERA) will be the veteran in this matchup despite pitching just his second season in the Majors. Hamels has gone 1-1 in his last two starts with a 5.68 ERA, striking out 10 over that stretch following a season-high 15 back on April 21st. The Phillies have been outscored 15-6 in losing the first two games of this series, and I think the exciting atmosphere in San Francisco surrounding Lincecum's debut along with his pitching will be too much for them.

sds23, I think you got it right. Ness do have a "TV Game of the Week *15" selection today. I'd imagine you matched it right (see Loch Ness's link).

Wait a minute, I see that BB did paste his name in his thread but UNDER the analysis. So you are right, it is him.

Pittsburgh Pirates (13-16) at Milwaukee Brewers (20-10)
(R) Tony Armas (0-2) vs. (R) Ben Sheets (2-2)

Pittsburgh sends Tony Armas (0-2, 8.66) to the mound. The right-hander allowed two runs on six hits, with four strikeouts over six innings, in a 8-6 defeat against the Cubs last Tuesday. Armas is 3-0 with a1.42 ERA in three career starts against the Brewers. Milwaukee counters with Ben Sheets (2-2, 4.25 ERA) The right-hander allowed two runs, retired 12 of the 13 hitters with his curveball, in a 12-2 win against the Cardinals last Tuesday. Sheets has a 2.90 ERA in 18 career starts against the Pirates.

Pittsburgh has dropped four of their last five games and six of its last eight on the road, including yesterday's 6-3 defeat versus the Brewers. Meanwhile, Milwaukee has won six of their last seven and seven of its last eight at home.

Milwaukee has taken five of the last six games against the Pirates and four of the last 5 at Miller Park. Go with the hot Brewers to grab their third straight win over the cold Pirates.

Pick: Milwaukee Brewers

San Francisco has played well at home, winning nine of their last 11 at AT&T Park, but the Phillies have been a thorn. Philadelphia has won eleven of the last 15 meetings and four of Hamels' last 5 road starts. However, Lincecum has been an amazing with his Triple-A Fresno pitching performance. Expect a pitchers duel between these two young promising super stars. Take the ‘under’.

200 DIME MLB No Brainer...FLORIDA MARLINS

I know Jake Peavy is on the hill for the Padres, but this woeful San Diego offense (.205 team batting average last seven games) can't be trusted and the hard-hitting Marlins are a nice home dog this afternoon. Peavy took the loss in his last start in allowing three earned to the visiting Nationals. In his only start against the Fish a year ago, he gave up six earned in five frames. Today he's facing a Florida attack that has rapped out at least 10 hits in 10 of its last 14 games and is batting .284 during that stretch.

Despite blowing Saturday's game with some ninth inning defenisve miscues, the Fish have still won five of their last seven at home and Scott Olsen does pitch well in South Florida. He gave up just two earned in his most recent start at the Mets and held the Padres to one earned in seven frames in his only start against the Friars last year. Peavy is 0-2 in two starts at Florida in his career and he'll again be saddled with the loss as the Marlins prevail.

200 DIME MLB No Brainer...SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

Having taken two of the first three games in this series, the Giants will again prevail tonight behind the arm super prospect Tim Lincecum. This is a nice home dog tonight as the favored Phils are a mere 7-10 on the road this year and batting just .253 away from home. Lincecum went 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA in 31 innings at Triple-A Fresno before getting the call up for this start. He fanned 46 in that stretch while allowing only 12 hits and 11 walks. He will pitch well tonight.

Philly counters with Cole Hamels, who has allowed at least four earned in each of his last two starts. He's facing a resurgent San Fran lineup that is batting .280 versus lefty starters and .289 in its last seven games. San Fran has has won nine of its last 11 at AT&T Park and the underdog Giants will prevail this evening.

Guaranteed Pick: Brian Hansen

Game: Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants May 6 2007 8:05PM

Prediction: under

Reason: This has been a high scoring series, but I expect a low scoring affair today. Red hot Tim Linceum has been called up from Triple A where he was an unbelivable 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA with 49 K's to 11 BB's. Cole Hamel also has a very respectable 2.82 ERA on the road. Both pitchers have the advantage of facing the opposing teams lineup for the first time and Bonds is expected to be out of the lineup as well. Look for a well pitched game. Play on the UNDER as my TOTAL OF THE MONTH

100-Unit NL Road Warrior - PHILLIES (play only with Hamels as the listed pitcher for Philadelphia)

A couple of young outstanding pitchers take to the hill today as the Phillies send Cole Hamels (3-1, 3.54 ERA) to the mound to face Triple-A ace, Tim Lincecum for the Giants.

The Phillies took the first two games of this series but lost Saturday 9-4. Against San Francisco, Philadelphia is 11-4 overall against the Giants and 5-4 in San Francisco.

The left-handed Hamels is 2-0 on the road with a 2.82 ERA and he has lasted at least six innings in all six of his starts and has struck out 43 this season and walked just 12.

It's a big spot for a Triple-A pitcher in this one, being on national TV. We're going to play Hamels as he'll deliver a quality start on the big stage. Play Philadelphia.

100-Unit AL 'Dog of the Day - WHITE SOX (play only with Buehrle as listed pitcher for Chicago)

Chicago was able to get some runs Saturday and bet the Angels 6-3. It snapped a five-game losing streak and the six runs was just one less than they'd scored in the previous five games combined.

The road team is 16-5 in this rivalry and the White Sox send Mark Buehrle (2-1, 2.97 ERA) to the mound after he faced them a week ago. Buehrle gave up three runs on nine hits in six innings and struck out eight but ended up losing 5-2.

Buehrle is 1-0 with a 3.86 ERA in two road starts.

The Angels are going with Bartolo Colon (3-0, 3.79 ERA) who gave up five runs on nine hits in five innings in Kansas City on Tuesday. Colon is 9-5 with a 4.19 ERA in 17 career starts for the White Sox.

The White Sox will get a great effort from Buehrle today and the offense will do just enough to get the job done. Play Chicago in this one.
