Not really a suprise, It was more of a matter of when it would happen, not if it would

Nice, I snagged him in my fantasy league before anyone. With all the run support he will get the guy could win 15 games this year, starting in mid/late-May.

Thanks RX!!!!

he won't make a difference in that staff. He's not going to be able to pitch 7-8 innings everytime.

I thought he wanted to sign with a contender?

I'd have went to Boston, if I was him.
I'm happy that didnt happen because I wouldnt want to see his mug in a Sox uniform.

Pretty sure that

Schilling, Beckett, Dice, Wake and Lester are all superior arms at this point.

I see it....pretty dramatic too...lol

I don't see a salary figure though???

-- Roger Clemens returned to the New York Yankees, making a dramatic announcement to fans from the owner's box during Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners.

At the end of the seventh-inning stretch, Yankees public address announcer Bob Sheppard told fans to turn their attention to the box, where Clemens was standing with a microphone. As the video scoreboard in right-center televised Clemens, the seven-time Cy Young Award winner made the announcement himself.

"It's a privilege to be back," he said.

Clemens agreed to a minor league contract and most likely will join the Yankees after several weeks getting into shape.

yeah...salary is still unclear...latest update:

Roger Clemens is getting a minor league contract from the Yankees, and he expects to make his return to the majors at the end of the month.

Clemens announced his decision during the seventh inning of Sunday's game at Yankee Stadium. Still no details about the contract, though a prorated salary in the $20 million-$24 million range is what was expected. That the Yankees got a deal done without one of the 72 New York papers spilling the beans beforehand is pretty impressive. May. 6 - 3:33 pm et

20-24 million and the guy doesn't even have to pitch til June...just incredible.

The Yankees are desperate though and need him.

The Yankees are just like bad gamblers. They continue to chase. Yes, they have the money to spend, but doesn't make it a wise investment.

Players are getting older, farm system has been emptied out (hughes not withstanding), they are desperate, but a starter won't matter when your relief pitchers will have thrown more pitches than CY Young in a season!

They need to get rid of Cashman and stop wasting $20M on Clemens. Even with him back, assuming they win every start, they still have to many holes in their rotation.
