I would add Wilt to the list. Shaq and Duncan would be a good debate. List stops there imo.

Wilt was before my time but a lot of people would rank Wilt over Kareem ...Wilt might be #1 alltime....he alwas lost the championships to Russell but didn't the Celts have more talent around him?

Wilt avg'd 50 PPG one year along with 25 RPG .

In '62 his coach asked him to score 50 PPG, because he said that was the only way they could beat the Celtics: Russell couldn't stop Wilt, but Russell's teammates were vastly superior to Wilt's (the 1962 Celtics featured 7 hall of famers on the roster).

a kareem vs wilt debate could go on for days...

hakeem is possibly in the top 15 players of all time. what a talent..

and after a few minutes of thought , i would rate him above duncan.

I would take Duncan over Hakeem, but not by much. Hakeem was incredible, best feet ever for a big man.

Shaq has destroyed Duncan most of his career. Duncan has longevity while Shaq has ballooned but must give Shaq the edge and plenty of others over Duncan too. Duncan is great but plenty of big men have been better.

I would take Shaq ,Kareem, Hakeem and Wilt over Duncan...I didn't see Bill Russell play so can't make that argument.

How is Shaq not better? He is the best player since Jordan... and the best big man of our time... arguably the most dominating player ever to put on a uniform...

never been a big shaq fan.. always felt he has had limited basketball skills.

he cant shoot at all . he is nothing more than a huge man who could run up and down a court and knock players around to get position and dunk.

This is very idiotic... He has great post moves and great foot work. He can knock down his hook shot over anyone and his spin move is still the best for a big man in the game.

You guys goot a stop giving credit to the guys of yesteryear. The average people of today would destroy them. Way more athleticism, bulk, vand flat out skills tyhan yesteryear players

Not to mention, they are slower than molasses. but hey, if a 7 footer can ashoot over a 6'7" GUY IN THE MIDDLE, HE MUST BE GOOD.

pEOPLE LIKE oSCAR, wALTON, Russell never happened. The game just wasn't real or competetive back then

Wilt Chamberlin with todays training and money incentives would eat alive these lazy pot smoking players in the NBA today.

Kareem Abdul Jabbar was an unstoppable scorer as a big man and could shoot as good as anybody today. You add him to any team in the playoffs today and they would be the favorite. Golden State/New Jersey/Chicago all would win this year with Kareem at center. Same with Wilt or Russell. Golden State would be the favorite with either of these 3 centers.

Oscar with todays training would be the best player on the court in any game he played.

Walton was a great player and would also be great today!

I left out Walton because he didn't play alot in the NBA, but a healthy Walton is WAY better than Ewing or Duncan ever thought of being. Walton made everyone around him better with his passing and rebounding.

Jim Brown woulf rush for 2000 yards on any NFL team if he was 25 today and healthy. No running back today could carry his jock strap!

Every great MLB hall of famer would be even better today with all the money involved and all the training available. How many home runs would Willie Mays hit with all of todays training?

Jack Lambert of the Steelers (jim brown too) would wip anybodys a$$ in the NFL if they were playing today. They both probably could kick some of their a$$es at 50 today.

Saying todays overpaid lazy athletes are better than 30 years ago is silly. They look faster and stronger, but are not smarter and don't play as teams anymore. And they are not as tough!

Some guys are just great and just because they played in 1950 doesn't mean they are not better than someone playing in 2007. The year doesn't change a thing.

Not this bullshit - in his prime, in the playoffs, Shaq averaged 19 points against SA - I am talking in the early 2000's when he put up 40 every night on NJ in the finals.

Here is your list in no order:

Russell
Shaq
Chamberlain
Kareem
TD
Hak

Bird wasn't a big man - Parish was the center and McHale was the PF - I would love to see a team with Bird, Duncan and Nash.
