About 90 minutes after Mayweather's victory over Oscar De La Hoya, a bout in which he earned $10 million plus a cut of the pay-per-view revenues that could double that figure, White said he was prepared to match Mayweather with UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk.
White wouldn't be pinned down on a specific number, though he said, "I promise you, I will make it worth his while. I will make it very worth his while."
White was undaunted even after hearing of Mayweather's large payday.
"I told you, we can make him a very, very competitive offer if he still feels he can beat one of our guys," White said.

Mayweather sent a peace offering to White via UFC vice president Marc Ratner before Saturday's bout. Mayweather told Ratner to tell White he was only kidding when he was ripping the UFC and its fighters.
"Floyd talked to Marc Ratner and he told Marc, 'Tell Dana I love him and all this talk about the UFC was just hype,' " White said. "Floyd and I used to be really close and I was kind of disappointed and (ticked) off with the way he was talking."
As for Sherk, White said, "He loved being here and seeing the atmosphere, and I think he left here believing he'd beat the

Floyd would be a fool to do this. A bottom feeder MMA fighter would eat Floyd alive obviously - as soon as he grabbed a hold of the pretty boy it would be all over. Just as if the best MMA fighters in the world got into the boxing ring with Floyd, the MMA fighter would get slaughtered. 2 different skill sets

As much as I'd like to see Sherk take Mayweather down and pound on him, Pretty Boy has said he only said that stuff to get some headlines and does not at all want to try out the UFC.

I also don't see how his defensive boxing would translate into a good UFC fight even if he found a way to avoid getting taken down. He's a great boxer but UFC would not be good for him in the slightest.

Sherk would get tooled at boxing, but I'm still not sure Mayweather could get the KO that easily.

Mayweather is the best boxer, not the best mixed martial arts fighter. Two different things. Like the previous posters said he'd get pounded in a MMA match. In a boxing match he'd pound any MMA fighter as well. Pointless IMO

I would have a better chance of beating Sherk - Mayweather was the one talking shit about how he could knock out anyone from the UFC.

UFC guys not very good, isnt Shrek bigger than Mayweather? How about RJJ over Shrek, Ill take Jones. The UFC guys marginal athletes in most cases.

Not very good? The guy holds the Lightweight title and has a record of 31-2 with his only losses to Georges St Pierre and Matt Hughes, two of the most dominant guys in the sport. Both fights, Sherk was fighting above his weight class and he's only been caught once as far as a TKO in his MMA career.

He hasn't defended his title in forever because he keeps getting injured, but he's a stud.

5'6", 155 pounds and has beat most of the big names in the weight class above his where he used to fight. I wouldn't fuck with him and I'm 6 inches taller and 55 pounds heavier.

He's not the most exciting fighter (like a Chuck Liddell) since his bread and butter is wrestling, but he'd get Floyd on his back like it was nothing and just pound on him.

You have to be able to wrestle in MMA. Mayweather or Jones would have no chance as soon a guy like Matt Hughes or Sherk grabbed them. Most MMA fighters are world class wrestlers. Wrestling>Boxing in MMA

I can't remember anyone that had success as a boxer that excelled in MMA really... Kick boxers have had some success but a pure boxer, none come to mind other than Butterbean and he usually fights freak shows that aren't really much of a challenge. Even big ole Butterbean has learned jui jitsu and is subbing people lately.

You just can't be one dimensional at MMA or you'll get torn up.

That's because no elite boxer bothers with MMA. It's not worth it considering a top boxer makes much more than MMA fighters.
