Alright so this is going to be a progressive thread once again tonight where I add winners as they night goes along. I am starting with an early play and looking to get back on track after a few rare losses on the year. I am posting from my brand new Optimax internet in my new condo so this could be some internet beginner's luck. Baseball is one of the best sports to bet on because the prices are often good and certain guys are better than others in certain situations. Here we go:

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES ML +104

You won't find me betting on this team too much but this is a great spot to back them just like it was a great spot to back them on Sunday Night Football against a young left handed San Francisco pitching prospect. The Phillies have lost the first two games of this series so once again, this is an important game if they want to inch back towards a .500 mark before the month of June. The Arizona Diamondbacks are a red hot team and they looked pretty damn good winning the first two games of this series. On the mound tonight for the Phillies is left handed veteran Jamie Moyer. Arizona is not the kind of lineup that has guys who like to hit lefties which is why I think they are in trouble tonight. The D-Backs are batting only .230 against left handed pitchers this season and like I said before, their lineup is lacking power against southpaws. This should give the dormant Phillies bats a chance tonight because they are batting .291 against left-handed pitchers in their last 10 games and on the mound for the D-Back tonight is Randy Johnson. The Big Fade himself. I expect Moyer to turn in another solid performance like he has all year as he has allowed road opponents to hit only .228 this season. The Phillies are 2-1 in his last three starts and in those games he has an ERA of 2.66 and a WHIP of 0.93 which is pretty damn impressive. Johnson on the other hand has not pitched well recently with an ERA of 6.50 and WHIP of 1.56 in his last three starts (D-Backs are 1-2 in thsoe games). Another problem for him is that his batters are providing him with only 4.3 runs of support in those games and thats not good. Johnson has had a lot of success in his career pitching against the Phillies but that was back in the days where he knew how to pitch. Moyer has been the best pitcher on this team when it comes to needing a win as the Phillies are 5-0 the last five times he has started following a loss the night before. The only time you should ever go against the Diamondbacks is against left handed pitchers as they are 1-5 in their last six games versus left handed pitchers. This should be a great game to watch but I don't see the Big Unit having the success he has had in the past and I see the Phillies breaking out the bats tonight. The Phillies are also a lot better suited to hit lefties and its going to show tonight. Anyone using RJ's lifetime record against the Phillies to cap tonight's game doesn't have much of a clue about anything. The last time he started against the Phils was back in May of 2004 at home where he lost 4-1. RJ is going to get demolished tonight. GO PHILLIES BABY!

Alright so after kicking off the night with a big bang a la Ryan Howard, here comes another big winner to end the night. I hate taking two road teams in one night but this is how it goes. Here we go:

CLEVELAND INDIANS ML +117

I had this one circled since this morning. I know for a fact that the public is going to be split on this one and I can understand why. However, what anyone who is willing to bet -120 type lines on Jered Weaver have to understand is that the Indians love a guy who can whip the ball over the plate and they love a guy like Weaver who has not been having a good sophomore season. The Indians won the opener 5-1 last night and I don't know how anyone can pass up the chance to pound away on one of Major League Baseball's best teams. The Indians are not getting the respect they deserve as a team even though they are 20-10. Like I said, if everyone was on Cleveland I would be the first one to layoff this game but it seems like the forum is split half and half. Paul Byrd is on the mound for the Tribe tonight and he is having an outstanding year so far. In his last three starts he has allowed a lot of hits but has pitched effectively enough to stay in ball games. In those games his ERA is 3.86 and his WHIP is 1.34. What I find the most enticing about betting on Byrd is that the Indians provide him with 5.3 runs of support per game in his last three starts. Byrd is 3-0 career wise against the Angels in five starts and he has held them to .248 batting in those games. Jered Weaver on the other hand has not pitched well at all but he might start breaking out of his slump soon. Either way, the Angels bats have not been behind him in this time of trouble. In his last three starts Weaver has an ERA of 5.40, a WHIP of 1.88 and the Angels are supporting him with only 3.3 runs scored per game in those games. Cleveland has been having quite the time with righties as of late, hitting .297 against right handed pitchers in their last 10 starts. The Angels on the other hand can't hit for shit and have hit only .237 against right handed pitchers in their last 10 games. In his two starts last season against the Indians, Weaver was very good in both but times have changed and oddsmakers have yet to adjust to the Indians success. Like I said before, the Angels are struggling to get anything done while the Indians are rolling like not many teams can roll. None of that should change tonight as the Indians continue to tear apart right handed pitchers, specially ones that are trying to get on track and who are pitching with a lot of pressure. This one might not be pretty, but Byrd has been getting enough run support in his last three starts that he can pitch a so-so game and still beat the pathetic Angels. GO INDIANS BABY!
