It started at a Superbowl party when Cuban first met Trump

From Cubans Blog

Back in Jan of 1999, I went to a SuperBowl party at Mar-a-Lago. I was there with some friends who had brought me along. I happened to bump into Donald Trump. It was just your typical, short meet-and-greet, but what he said left a lasting impession.

He told me that “someday, maybe I could sit up there with the rich people” as he looked up to a 2nd floor patio that had a smattering of people eating their dinner. Someday, Donald said as he headed up to the patio area.

I promised myself that if I ever got liquid and had an obscene amount of money in the bank, I would make a point not to remind myself and everyone else around me of it every minute of every day — unlike him.

He also told this story on the letterman show. Then he went on to say once Trump found out who he was he invited him to his office for lunch and Mark Cuban said he has never seen anyone so into HIMSELF.

He said most people have pictures of their family in their office, but Trump has pictures all over the place of HIMSELF. Then he made fun of his hair.... :)

Makes me like Cuban, for the first time. Say what you want, Cuban does try to win and he cares. Trump is just a dick, plain out.

I think its hilarious how he still brings up how great 'The Apprentice' is...and basically after the first two seasons....its done a nose dive.

And he's basically resorts to 'media' fights w/ Martha Stewart & Rosie...just so his name is in the news to keep his show a float.

I already have money that Donald will pick a fight w/ Ellen Degeneres or Rachel Ray when the next season of the Apprentice is about to premier.

Dude is such a media whore.

He's resorted to fighting with Rosie and injecting himself into wrestling promotions.

That's just sad.

its hilarious...

two years a go...it was a media fight w/ Martha...right before the premier of his show.

last year it was the same timing w/ Rosie.

seriously you will see a media thingy fighting w/ Rachel Ray or Ellen next season. Just wish people would stop eating this crap.

Maybe Trump and Cuban can have a match at next year's WM. At least it would be better than DeLaHoya-Mayweather was.

Yeah, and he was on some show and said if she wasn't his daughter, he'd date her. Pretty creepy even with the qualification. Can't wait till Wive Number Three decides she's qualified for her pension and leaves him with a nice chunk of change in tow. Somebody needs to grab him by his three strands of hair and kick his ass.

These guys have been going at it forever. Cuban isn't the only one that thinks he is a douchebag. One of my clients owns an "apartment" in Trump residential towers in NYC. Trump owns and lives (at least part time) in the entire top floor, my client owns half of the floor below it. Very well respected and wealthy businessman (net worth like 400mm) and owns a ton of real estate himself. When he moved in Trump invited my client and his wife to his place for dinner so he accepted. They had dinner/drinks, etc., and my client's wife at the end of the night commented that Trump was nice, to which my client responded "Really, you think he was nice? Did he even ask you one thing about yourself? Do you think he even knows your name after spending 4 hours with him?" Apparently what FI says is 100% true, all Trump, all the time.

My client's impression of him was that he talks about two things all the time, himself and NYC real estate and he knows nothing about anything else. Basically a complete horse's ass.

And if the Road Warrior says it, it must be true..

Trump calls Cuban “terrible”; Cuban says Trump “doesn’t know what he’s doing.”

The Benefactor has had significantly lower ratings than The Apprentice, which maybe shouldn’t be surprising if only because the former show airs on the notoriously incompetent ABC, which airs the show Mondays pre-football on the east coast and post-football on the west coast. More interesting, though, is the continuing quasi-feud between Mark Cuban and Donald Trump. Recently Trump said on CNBC that Cuban’s show “was absolutely terrible. I thought Mark was terrible … They really tanked, so I doubt they can finish out the season.” As Page Six details, Cuban was scheduled to appear on Squawk Box to reply, but cancelled after producers wouldn’t air a graphic of Trump’s companies. “I was going on the show because he [Trump] talked all this trash and I was going to talk trash right back. But since it’s enemy territory, I wanted something to grab onto when they tried changing direction on me,” Cuban told the paper. On Trump, he says, “In the boardroom he doesn’t know what he’s doing. The lessons he gives on ‘The Apprentice’ are garbage. I’ll put up the lessons from ‘The Benefactor’ against his any day.”

to me this is like Schilling vs. Bonds - 2 duchebags going at each other. There was a time in my life when I idolized Trump for the successful businessman that he is. I don't know what kind of business ventures he's doing behind the public life, and whether they're successful or not, but I could care less about the guy now. He's a fuckin joke and has been a joke for awhile now and that whole Trump vs. Rosie circus proved it. WTF happened to this guy Trump?

Cuban fights back as he writes the New York Post..

The Donald In Basket-brawl

May 12, 2007 -- IT'S a billionaire smackdown!

Mark Cuban is fuming that Donald Trump called him a "loser" on ESPN Radio last week and taunted him about Cuban's beloved Dallas Mavericks being knocked out of the first round of the NBA playoffs last week.

Trump said, "Mark Cuban is a guy who . . . puts so much pressure on the players. He wants to win so much, ya know, he wants to put himself in the position of the players. He wants to be a player, I guess.

And he's not a player . . . [Cuban] probably always wanted to be a winner all his life, and if ya look like him, you can't be a winner. So he wants to put himself in the place of the players, so what happens is, the team choked."

Trump then slammed Cuban about the Internet billionaire's short-lived reality show, "The Benefactor."

"Mark Cuban was extremely embarrassed when he copied 'The Apprentice' and failed," Trump raged. "They threw him off television like a dog.
"I wrote him a note and I said, 'Mark, you have absolutely no television persona. I wish you would have spoken to me previously or before you did this. I could have told you it was gonna fail.' And he failed.

"Same thing with the Mavericks. The Mavericks have a great team. They'll never win with Mark Cuban as the owner because he is not a winner."

Cuban responded to Trump's digs by e-mailing Page Six: "I guess Donald is still upset that he can't afford to buy an NBA team. No doubt the cash requirements of more than $10,000 created a problem for him. Hopefully he will sell enough Trump Steaks, Trump Perfume and Trump Dolls to save some money and buy a team. Then we can see how he does. Until then he is a wannabe that needs to get a new spiel."

Over the past year, the feisty Trump has feuded publicly with Rosie O'Donnell and Martha Stewart.

Cuban is a worthier opponent. While Forbes estimates Trump's net worth at $2.9 billion, Cuban hints that most of it is tied up in real estate, not ready cash. Cuban, who sold broadcast.com to Yahoo in 1999, is said to be worth $2.3 billion.

Cuban was paid for-the-most-part in stock right before the internet-bust in the stock market. He sold his stock when it was around $300 a share at the height of the dot.com craze, and diversified his money reducing his exposure to the market crash. If he would have held it until the bubble burst, he would have seen the stock he sold at around $300 a share drop all the way down to $7 a share.
