You'll admit he won the fight and has handled himself with class since the fight

He said it was going to be a fight! That was not a fight that was dance class.

He did what he had to do to win. The guy is immensely skilled, but he'll never have a crowd-pleasing style.

One years worth of hype..HBO Specials etc..For what?..To watch a guy run as if he is selling nickel bags to car drivers on a drug infested street corner..Mayweather can go fuck himself if he thinks he`ll get a dime from me again..I`d rather bet on ESPN`s friday nights fights at 5 Dimes etc..Not to mention ESPN`s Boxing anchor Teddy Atlas is far better than those idiots Larry Merchant and Harold Letterman..Lettermen is an ass who makes me puke with his round by round thoughts..Jim Lampley is cool..Lennox Lewis can go fuck himself

he did what he had to do to not let Oscar win, which won it for him.

him and oscar should give back half of their take

Only half? What does it say about the "saved" sport that several (clueless) people are already beating the rematch drum, despite the fact that one of the participants has only had 5 fights in the last 4 years-and lost 3 of them?

You guys are morons.

This guy was out there trying to win a fight not get knocked on his ass for your viewing pleasure.

Like many, your definition of a good fight is no defense knock down blood and shit. And that understandable. Like baseball, only real fans appriciate a pitchers duel.

wow i didn't know if someone held a different opinion than you it made that person a moron.

Viewing pleasure? I was interested in seeing a good fight, not one fighter scrambling to get some big hits in and try to take out the quicker, faster fighter. I saw the quicker, faster fighter showcasing those 2 abilities and not doing shit else. Mayweather was more concerned with showing everyone that De La Hoya was too slow for him rather than actually utilizing his speed to lay the wood against him.

Don't tell us what our definition of a good fight is, and regardless it is all subjective. And yes, I love pitchers duels.

Don't post if you can't deal with disagreement.

You beat me to the punch and said it far better than I would have...

Smokey La is gyno, IMO. Mods can we get an ip check or at least a location. I've never seen a person who isn't a ghost create so many threads in the offshore forum and talk like this to veteran posters. Reply, but not create usually they back off for awhile.

There are many free web based proxys, so if his postings have been static IP's in geographical locations across America he's using one.

Something I've never understodd about boxing scoring...

Is the scoring just based on number of punches actually landed, or some percentage, etc..? i.e. is it just a numbers game? OR, does it matter at all how hard or "effective" the punches are? Do weak hits count the same as strong ones? Or is it a judge-by-judge thing?

On a pure numbers game, it was clear that Mayweather won. But judging based on punch quality, I thought DLH landed much more effective and impressive power punches. Of course, they were never enough to knoch FMJ down or hurt him really bad, but ot my untrained eye they seemed more powerful. Just not sure if that counts at all.

I thought DLH was more impressive with his combinations, but then again I am really an unskilled eye at these things. Don't even know the real basis for judging.

it's a judge by judge thing and judges have those numbers to look at (i think)

too many rounds when he didnt land shit. tough to win a fight on a decision when you have rounds where you landed 7, 8, and 12 punches

Mayweather is a fraud, has handpicked opponents his entire career. Very similar to Roy Jones, made himself a name without boxing serious players.

All this guy craves is attention/fame, not someone you should respect.

This is a question I have often wondered also. I think the problem to us type of casual boxing fans is that it is hard to identify what is landing and what is not a lot of times. I think that a lot of punches were being blocked with Mayweather's great defense that looked like they might have landed. Just simply a sport I don't know a lot about. I can't know everything about everything!!
