I want to ask everyones opinion on this Friday those of you who decided to work for yourself, do you ever have any regrets??

I am young but quite honestly I HATE working for people.
I feel like I am just making them rich while they pay me nickles

Do you think some people in this world are just cut out to work for themselves and others can handle working for the man?

I am on the fence right now
I have plenty of money to give it a try to work for myself but I know it will be very hard.

I think its always a good idea to start off working for someone else.

Take the time to learn from them. Ask tons of questions. They have been through it before and can teach you a lot of things. After you do that, then if you still feel like you want to branch off by yourself to do something else, go for it!

Remember, most businesses aren't profitable for 4-5 years after the open!

Once you work for yourself and are successful you realize it is the only way to live and you will view everyone else as puppets of society - I think I'd rather go to a minimum security jail before I got a job working for some company.

You know who's going to stop me?

Nobody

ps...make sure you get into a cash business

I could not imagine working for somone full time..I have never had a regular job that was full time my whole life, couldn't begin to imagine how it would feel to be stuck working for someone....

I was eating lunch today this kid walks in, he looked like he was 28 but he was probably just a mature 19 yr old, he just looked way out of place to be handing in an application at this fast food joint...I wanted to walk up to him and say 'hey kid try and work for yourself-you're wasting your time' but I just took a sip of my Coke instead.

If you can work for yourself you should, it's best to be a saver though and not a spender if you work for yourself, you have no net to fall back on like a regular job so yu better be more practical with money til you have a nest egg.

Journey,
I am not sure how specific you want to be but what do you do for a living? Just curious?

Do it, working for the man doesn't cut it. Much more rewarding busting your ass for YOUR own business than some other prick

highly recommend it, I quit punching a time clock about 5 years ago and have never looked back. Make 50% more money and work half the hours.

Good advice like somebody said, keep it a cash biz if possible. bill collecting sucks and is draining/stressfull

Also, quite a few things you can step into and make good money from the get go since you have a nice bankroll to get it started.

I don't totally work for myself yet. But let me tell ya there is no better feeling going to my vending machines and filling it up and taking the money out. That money is mine and is there becuase of me putting in a product that somebody purchased. THERE IS NO BETTER FEELING

Do it now before you have kids and a big morgage that you have to make. Do it now and build it at your own pace.

I started a very well known "tout' service straight out of college in the 70's and never looked back. I moved on to bigger and better things in the 80's and have managed to survive over the years. Working for yourself isn't for everyone, but it works for a very chosen few. Sometimes in life it isn't what you know, but how much you believe in yourself. Good Luck
