These are projected rankings for the upcoming season. Bills' score got changed. Indy got changed. A few other AFC teams as well are changed a little since the first time I put this out a few days ago and it will probably change more and more with injuries and whatnot.

What do you guys think? I know that Minnesota ranking is gonna be the number one problem people have, but they have really done a great job with FA the last few years and Peterson should pick up about 5 yards a carry this year. The D had a million injuries last season and should rebound very nicely with all the studs they have. If they get good D-line play, this team is Super Bowl caliber IMO.

Hard to put Minn at the top of the NFC with their qb situation. May have to put Philly or Chicago at the top of the NFC.

wow Minnesota has the worst QB in the NFC and the worst set of receivers in all of football. A Defense that over achieved most of last year. I see 6 wins

your ratings are seriously flawed if you have my favorite team(Dolphins) ahead of the Colts

NO quarterback + NO receivers = NO running game...

I don't care if Peterson is as good as Herschel Walker was supposed to be for them. Even though they have a pretty good line, he ain't going to do shit unless they prove that they can throw the ball.

I think their defensive prowess last season was smoke and mirrors as well. They may have the best d-line in football, but their LB's suck.

I have them pegged at 6-7 wins this year at best...

Minnesota had alot of big injuries to their D. Plus they had alot of new faces.

If they stay healthy, they can be amongst the best.

As far as the poor QB and WRs, Brad Johnson was alot of that. He was scared to go deep. He had all day to pass and Tavaris Jackson has a very nice arm. Given time, he'll find his guys and won't shy away from going deep.

I like the things the Fins are doing. If the old guys can stay off the IR, I like their chances. They really got alot of bad breaks last year.

Also, the Colts' offense is the best in the game but their D may be the worst. Just horrible.

Had the same WRs and a QB who didn't stretch D's and Chester Taylor still had big holes to run through. When Jackson stretches the D with deep throws, those holes will be even bigger.

Vikings' run D is for real although they put too much attention to stopping the run. Still, opposing teams averaging 2.8 yards per carry doesn't happen often. People did pass on them alot since they brought alot of guys, but they can still stop the run if they pay more attention to their passing D, and like I said, the top guys have to stay healthy this year.

hmmm, and who is the Dolphins starting QB?

and they hired a head coach whose only head coaching experience was at Indiana University

Come on!

You cant analyze teams like this! Vikings ahead of the Bears, Saints and Eagles? Seriously bro, this was a waste of time, but good effort I guess.

Also, according to your rankings, Brandon Jacobs is better than Rudi Johnson, Stephen Jackson and Larry Johnson and on par with Brian Westbrook?!?! Preposterous! If you're going to attempt to analyze teams in this fashion, at least get the rankings right first.

As long as it's not Joey Harrington, I don't care much. Either Culpepper or Trent Green should do well.

Harrington is either too afraid to go downfield or just doesn't have the accuracy/arm strength. Either way, with him at QB, the offense was easy to defend.

He is kinda like Brad Johnson from last year, minus the accuracy. Neither could go downfield, and rarely tried.

Their coach should do just fine. He's never had a head job in the NFL but would you rather have a retread that couldn't cut it on another team as head man?

For what it's worth, alot of people said my rankings were crazy last year and alot of them turned out very accurately.

If you look back, the NFL has more parity than any other sport. The Rams coming out of nowhere to win it all? The Patriots being the league's best 3 times?

People would have called those predictions crazy too... Things change so quickly in the NFL, shit like this happens quite often. It may look crazy now, but we'll just have to see how the season plays out.

RBs are only as good as the holes they get to run through. I don't even think Jacobs will be the starter or leading carrier. The Giants opened massive holes. Peyton Manning could average 3 a carry behind that line. You don't pick up 4.8 yards per carry on accident... they can open some big holes.

Larry Johnson has had huge holes to run through... now in the last two years, he has lost possibly the two best blockers in the NFL. Expecting inexperienced and young guys to step up and make those same holes is "preposterous" as well.

You don't need the most talented RB to be able to run for alot of yards. A 5'11" 180 pound guy who runs a 4.6 can easily gain 500 more yards in a season than the "stud" with prototypical size that runs a 4.34. RBs with big holes to run through become stars.

Look at Emmitt and Edge going to Zona. No holes... no production.

Or Joseph Addai going to Indy... huge holes, huge star. He may lead the league in rushing this upcoming season, yet alot of people passed on him in the draft. He's not as talented as some of the guys picked before him but he has room to run.

Anyone else care to comment?

I know my rankings looked muffed up and won't get my panties in a bundle if you disagree...

you don't go from a non playoff team, to a Super Bowl contendor in an offseason.

Don't agree? Fine. Just wait and see how this season pans out.

New England went from 5-11 in 2000 to Super Bowl win in 2001.
St. Louis went from 4-12 in 1998 to Super Bowl win in 1999.
Baltimore went from 8-8 in 1999 to Super Bowl win in 2000.
Tampa went from barely making in 2001 to Super Bowl win in 2002.

Four years, 3 teams that missed and one that barely got in the year before won it all.

Nuff said.
