What's the Point of Keeping a Record Without Units?

I've always wondered this.

Someone could have a 100-50 record, but if all 50 losses are on -200 favorites, that's a little misleading, isn't it?

It might not be as big a deal in other sports...but for baseball in particular, how can one justify doing this?

In conclusion, tackle drunk bitches.

excellent thoughts. especially liked the part on tackling drunk bitches. some of my best life decisions have come on that thought process ever since junior year in HS and into my now college days.

the part on the record keeping was also good. cheers.

Completely agree. I also have a problem with people bumping up their threads after each win...but if they lose they wont post in their original thread, until they start a new one the following day.

Not just units, but as you point out, the average lay price. You must know units as well as average lay price or the W/L record means nothing in baseball. Wish the moderators would require this of posters.

Agreed. It's all about the units. I don't track anyone just by looking at their record in baseball.

looks like someone is feeling a little guilty ck.i think it is a joke and completely misleading.the only way a record should be posted is with units won and lost.baseball it is obviously crucial, but some guys also buy the half point on every game and don't put it in their record for hoops.

I agree w/ you raj to a certain extent. My problem is, what is a UNIT? To you it could be $100, to jeremy the big gay drunk it's $50 and to me it could be $500. I keep record and units but being 42 games over .500 and up 46+ units, I see other guys that are a 5-10 games over .500 and are up 40+ units. Then you break it down and compare and realize some people bet 2-3 units on EVERY play while I bet 1 unit on almost every play except the few 2 or 3 unit plays I have once in a while. But again, if you break it down, the people playing the 2-3 unit minimum are betting $50-$100 while every 1 unit play I make is $150.

But that is the purpose of posting in units. So everyone can determine where they would be in relation to how much they bet. 40 units is 40 units, it allows someone who bets $1 units to easily determine how much to play on each play just as it does for someone who plays $40, $100, $200, etc.

I do, however, agree with you that guys that have a minimum unit play of 2 or 3 units deceive in their units. If I halved my unit size I would double my +units, which is effectively what a guy that posts nothing smaller than 2 units does. So yeah, you are 100% correct there.

anybody that isnt keeping a unit record in baseball is a complete fraud of a capper and you would have to be a total fool to follow that guys plays.
There was a guy on another board who had a hockey record of like 55-18, but he didnt keep track by units and when you added up all the juice he laid on the huge favorites, his record was more like 55-50.
Some guys who post plays just want the attention of saying they picked a bunch of winners, but for real betting purposes, their record aint very good.
