Comparable by talent level and seriousness of the player.

From the little time I have played it seems to me that the $1/2 NL online game has a much better player than the $1/2 NL live game players. Just wondering what others think?

There are 2 reasons I would assume this:

1) is the online player at that level may be a tad more serious due to the funding issues nowadays and

2) also with the ability to play at a lower level than $1/2 online it makes the bottom level/casual players seek out even smaller games.

Now I don't have much expierence at this but it is something I think I may have noticed or makes a little bit of sense to me. Any thoughts?

Iceman, there really arent any funding issues for most people at poker rooms these days. Pokerstars has more players than ever at this time

The 1-2 NL online player is much better than the comparable live player. It's not even close.

I remember playing a year or two ago at a local casino(Empress Joliet) in the 200-500(buy in) NL game. I think the blinds were 5/10. At the time all I could think was, "Man these people would get smoked online". When I played online I played NL100. I would say that a live NL100 game's counterpart online would be NL25, IMO.

One guy bought in for the max 500. He played almost every hand and just kept raising and reraising without relation to his cards. At some point he went all in usually by the flop or turn. He reloaded maybe 5 times...? Then went back to blackjack I think, He was a regular and the other players knew him.

Another guy sat down late in the game one Sunday night. He kept raising in late position most rounds. I limped with KK...call call call. He raises again and I push for close to 500. Everybody folds and he calls with 99..LOL. I couldn't believe it, thankfully I won the hand.

How much do you think you have to bring to a 1/2 NL table, enough to play it well, obviously not to much either....

To be comfortable, I would say 150 at min. Of course depending on your style

I totally agree its not even close. The other big thing I notice is that preflop raises live range on avg anywhere from 10-20, while online it seems as though a raise to 8 is huge.

Also depends on what the table max is. Ive seen some table max's at 100 for 1/2 NL, some 200 some more. Just depends....

In a live game, internet players are inferior to live players. I love to see predominantly internet players come to my table. Markedly different game in whatever live game I am playing..

i went to harrah's in new orleans this weekend to play in some WSOP satellites and maybe an event or so, but the structure of the satellites was unbelieveable (800 in chips, 25/25 starting blinds, blinds upped every 10 min.). I then just decided to go play cash poker at the 1/2 NL tables. 70% of the players that sat at my tables we not any worse/better that the online player, but the other 30% were much worse. I bought in 200 and was very comfortable for my very tight play. i lost $140 the first night, and won 220 the second night. i did buy in 150 at one table and was comfortable, but i think 200 is much better.
