I don't care for Rap but realize it has its place and won't say all rap is horrible, I don't see what the talent is in it....the language is what really is disturbing...just goes right along with everything else this Generation X is about (which isn't much) and their lack of values, morals and where this country is headed....God help this generations children,

the new age rap sucks. old school tupac all eyez on me, me against the world, arguably best CD's put out in the 90's. the problem he's going to run into is it's majority white kids who buy these rap cd's and try to act gangsta. i'd be very surprised to see this thing happen.

Absolutely despise rap "music" but all this crap they're saying about it is the same stuff they said about Heavy Metal in the 70's and 80's, especially after a few kids blew themselves away while listening to "Suicide Solution". It's just so-called music and, sooner or later, it'll be gone.

I grew up listening to The Chronic, Doggystyle, Me Against the World, East 1999, etc and I am white and I never acted "gangster" and I turned out alright. Basic scientific priniciple: Just because 2 things are related (in this case rap music and bad behavior), that doesn't mean that one caused the other.

I can't believe so many people were against disco...rap music I can maybe understand but disco? You got to be kidding me. Here's an idea - don't want your kid listening to rap? Don't buy them the CDs. Better yet let them listen to what they want to listen to and who knows - horns may not instantly sprout out of the top of their heads.

Demonstrations like the one proposed usually have the opposite effect that the organizers intend. Rap sucks, but try to remember, when this lost generation has kids, they will rebel against these shitbags like no other group of kids before them.

I personally dislike rap and would never attempt to preach its virtues. For the most part I don't believe it's music and should fall more into the category of spoken word or poetry. However, I don't think it is fair to compare it to disco. Disco was like a spreading disease that was completely void of any mindful thought. It was a vapid wasteland that gained momentum and was drowning out true artists. This was due to record executives and radio stations being only concerned with the bottom line. It had to be stamped out and the powers that be who were the driving force behind it had to stopped for the good of humanity. The words "Disco Sucks" couldn't have been more spot on.

rap music falls under poetry huh

That was probably a bad choice of terms. More of a subset of poetry or spoken word. I wanted to convey that it I don't consider it music. That it is more words set to a beat. What it is really isn't relevant to my post. My post was more directed at what disco is/was.
