Anyone who thinks Duncan is not the MVP only understands playground trash ball and should just stick to "hot sauce" and the and one tour - there is not a player even remotely close to as important as TD is when it comes to winning - in every aspect of the game - he should be the league MVP every year (just like Jordan should have been) unless he has plantar fasciitis - Amare needs to watch some tape of Tim and learn how to get in position defensively so he is not constantly in foul trouble.

Why not Nash? Seems to me if you slow him down, you win.

Because Duncan goes for 30 and 15 and completely dominates defensively in a series which realistically is the NBA finals.

Nash is great too - every time I see him I think he and Tim should be on the same team.

It is funny that Camby wins defensive MVP but at 6,11' he can't guard Duncan - priceless.

One more stat - since Duncan came into the NBA the Spurs have the best winning percentage of any team IN ANY SPORT - the dude is a modern day Bill Russell.

You don't think the Pistons have a chance?

The Pistons have a chance - they are a "team" just like SA - they were basically dead even with SA when they had Wallace - without Wallace Parker and Ginobili will eat dinner at the rim or if Detroit over adjusts Finley will hit 6 threes a game - but SA has not beaten the Suns - I think the Suns are the ony team that can beat SA with any regularity in a 7 game series - I consider SA and Phoenix pretty much even with SA have the best player on the court and the best coach in the league and the Suns have overall better players - I consider Billups to be a player like Duncan - just a stud that know one talks about and Sheed can play Tim tough.

After watching a full year of Wallace in Chicago, I now know why the Pistons let him walk. Heck, he was late for game 3 Thursday. While the Pistons are mowing down the East, SA is playing extended series in the uber-competitive West.

This award is for the regular season and Dirk was far better than Duncan in regular season so this seems like a ludicrous statement to me.

I agree w/ your logic...as Dirk was simply dreadful in the Playoffs...

BUT- award is given for the MVP of the regular season, and Duncan simply did not have an MVP caliber regular season...he's been the best player in the Playoffs...Yes...but he simply didnt perform like this throughout the 82 games.

If Duncan had an MVP type of season...then the Spurs would be a #1 or #2 seed...he played very well, but not MVP caliber. Playoffs - he has.

he never once went for 30 & 15 once during the regular season. I dont want to sound like i'm not giving him his due - just that the regular season has to be weighed in some way. Tim Duncan has been simply unstoppable in the Playoffs..and if they win it all...he will win NBA Finals MVP for sure.

Regular season MVP is one thing , But Any player would trade that hardware in a New York minute for an NBA Finals MVP . ( Mr. Jordan has 6 of em')

When did they vote on MVP? Before the big upset, I presume.

No point in disagreeing with a homer.

So I love Duncan - no one is going to convince me Garnett, Dirk, and McGrady lighting up the Hawks in November compares in the slightest to Duncan kicking ass and taking names deep into the summer YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT - this is the real season - when half of the potential MVP's never even play - I wonder what KG likes better - a good brown trout or some deep sea wahoo?

For what it's worth, Tim Duncan is one of my all-time favorite players and will go down as the best power forward in the history of the game. It's amazing how under-appreciated he is by the average basketball fan, and it's just plain sad.

But I still think there's no point in disagreeing with a homer. Just a disclaimer, that's all.

Duncun is one of my favorite.

I almost though that Kobe is the best INDIVIDUAL PLAYER in the league, and Duncun is the best team player.

"Kobe is the best INDIVIDUAL PLAYER"

ROFL. Last I looked basketball was a team game.

Kobe is an idiot, a punk, a rapist and a loser. Michael Jordan,
Bird, Magic all made their team-mates better, Kobe makes
them worse.

Kobe's only chance to win rings was to play with Shaq, well
he blew that one didn't he.

Kobe will never win another ring, but he may get some more
rapes, we'll see.
