Incensed that his team did not acquire wide receiver Randy Moss as he wanted, Brett Favre asked Green Bay to trade him, several Packers and league sources have told FOXSports.com.

Just two or three days after last month's NFL Draft, Favre's agent Bus Cook phoned Green Bay's general manager Ted Thompson and asked that his client be traded, the sources said. In the conversation, Cook railed off on how his client was fed up with the organization and wanted out.
The trade request was relayed to head coach Mike McCarthy, who immediately phoned the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. However, the quarterback ignored all his calls for a week, letting the request fester and perhaps showing the team how upset he was this time.
Finally, in the middle of this past week, the two connected. Sources close to the situation said Favre asked McCarthy if he was aware that Cook asked for a trade but McCarthy immediately insisted that would not happen.
Following the conversation, McCarthy told others inside the organization that the talk appeared to have cooled Favre's anger and that Favre, by the end of the discussion, admitted he didn't want to go elsewhere.
However, Favre continued to tell friends on other teams how frustrated he was with the organization's inability to land the former Pro Bowl wideout and that he, in fact, wanted out of Green Bay.

Several calls Sunday morning to McCarthy and Thompson from FOXSports.com were not immediately returned.
On Saturday, Favre railed against the team in an interview session with reporters.
"I just want to win; maybe I see things the wrong way," Favre said. "I don't want to ruffle any feathers and I want people to respect me. Sometimes I think it's hard for them to let Brett go. They might think that we pay him a lot of money, but he still gives us the best chance to win. I've never been told that, but there are times when I wonder if I'm the odd man out here and they just don't know how to tell me.
"Our offense struggled last season. If it were not for our defense, we would not have won eight games. Right now, it's hard to be optimistic. I'm not getting any younger and I think everyone knows that. I don't have five years to rebuild. No one in Green Bay is saying rebuild but it's hard to look at where we are going and say, 'How can they not be rebuilding?'
"I don't know if I've lost faith, and I think everyone in the organization wants to win. I just don't know if it includes me. If it's going to be five years from now, I'm not going to be here. This is 17 years for me and I want to win."
At this point the Packers are prepping for serious damage control to prevent any further uproar regarding their most prized name. However, the damage may already have been done by his bizarre trade request.
Despite Favre's trade request and rant to reporters, the team has no intention of parting ways with their prized quarterback. In fact, some within the organization claim that McCarthy honestly believes they can win with the long-time vet at the helm and has repeatedly told him so. Thus, they are hoping that Favre simply needed to vent for a while before jumping back on board.

This guy has got some balls.. He has been washed up for years now and should have retired. Instead he holds the team hostage about whether or not he is going to come back or not when they should have clearly cut there ties and moved on.. Now he is crying...... This bumb has no trade value whatsover.......

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

Who would trade for him? Maybe the Bears, but seems unlikely?

You have to admit Favre has a point.

It's damn pathetic they didnt get Moss, and I am confident GB would have given up more than New England did.

100% true. I cannot believe GB puts up with it. They need to rebuilt. Maybe for 1 year out of respect but this guywill not let up. HE SUCKS RIGHT NOW. Even some announcers will not admit it.

not true...it was reported that Green Bay would not go any higher than a 5th round draft pick for Moss.

hence...why the Pats offered a 4th rounder (this season) and it was the best available value....as well as Brady's willingness to re-work his own contract to make Moss' contract more bearable.

and Favre's trade value is little, to non-existent...it will all work out, he'll be with Green Bay next season...

Yes- teams could use Favre...but many are not willing to give up anything just to have him a year or maybe 2...the teams that could use him, are in no position to win right a way, or be willing to trade any draft picks for him. Draft picks have become way too valuable.

They're still scrapin him off my stucco.

Right, the Packers are reeeeeally going to let him break the all time TD record and win record in another uniform.

He was pissed and rightfully so and it sounds like he just flew off the handle and said stuff he probably didn't mean. We all do it.

But it does sound like McCarthy and Thompson aren't on the same page right now.

For Brett to even hint at wanting to be traded speaks volumes at this point....Love to see him go to Dallas and prove he can still make it happen.

The man has a point. He needs a big time receiver, they would have prolly wont 3 more games if they had a play maker as a receiver.

Hmm, did you see on the news that Moss' locker right next to Tom's?!

Thanks for correcting me, BTW.

Interesting article in the Boston Globe today on Moss. They talked to his former coaches and players at Oakland. SOme were pro and some anti Moss. I think that more were negative. Shell has some interesting points (criticism) as did o Coordinator Walsh. His legs are giving him some problems and that is an issue with all the practice time he misses. Check it out if anyone gets a chance. Moss has always been a problem and will be again...lets get a good year out of him and we will be ecstatic.

anyone who thinks Brett Favre is washed up...doesnt watch this guy. He is throwing to below average Wide-outs because Donald Driver is double covered every single play. He has no Tight End....no running back...a very inexperienced offensive line.....you could argue that this team wouldnt of won a game last year if it wasnt for Brett. He is gonna break arguably the most important record in all of sports next year(TD record...wins)...why arent the packers helping him? Aaron rodgers is the next Ryan Leaf. and thats the man they chose to fill a 400+ TD QB's shoes?

Moss just ran the 40 in 4.29 a few days ago, I think he threw in the towel on the raiders after about 5 games last year.

Also Moss is a prime time player and the Pats will have many games in prime time I cant wait to see if the old Moss is back.

He did not run a 4.29. NO Fuckin way. That was talked about. No fuckin way can he run that time right now. I am not sure how much Moss will have left or how good he will be. All I am saying is that he is a bad apple. A damn bad apple. We all have seen it and heard it so no need to keep mentioning it or all his details but there is no doubt Moss is what he is.

I agree with you, Rob...why wouldn't the Packers give up a 4th round draft pick next year to get Moss and maybe a chance to win with Favre? It makes no sense; I would feel the same way if I was Favre.
