I made a recent Survivor thread in the past week here. I originally came up with a plan to try to go from $1 to $1,000 by winning 12 in a row, basically with pre-established prices that'd allow me to reach that goal.

The first $1 attempts (only 5 were done) were part of a very interesting experience, but it had the makings of something that'd take forever to do.

With feedback from RX'ers, I realized going for $5 per attempt to reach $1,000 by winning 8 in a row was both more manageable & more exciting for people to follow along.

I still feel that I can reach $1K by winning 8 in a row between 10-20 attempts (costing me $50 to $100 in the process). So I'll be aiming to do this as many as possible & hoping to have some people joining in to win money as well.

Here is the updated snapshot of the $5 attempt:

I am repeating the snapshot below (in case this thread is accessed in the future where the snapshot link is gone):

This is a completely different approach from my wonderful money management program, but it kinds of practice money management in the sense that you are only risking your ORIGINAL $5.00 during any streak attempt.

I already have a pick in mind for Bet #1 of Attempt A tonight.

Attempt A, Bet #1:
Bodog

Detroit +153
Risked $5.00 to win $7.65

glad to see you on the tigers.
Thanks. I see that your thread & one service pick handicapper (that got posted by Bookie Buster/sds23) were the pivotal reason why I settled on the Tigers for a great bet at +140 or higher.

GL to you & me. Later.

Looks very interesting, and very do-able. I have been on some good streaks in the past and betting this way makes since because you are bound to get a streak going sometime, especially if you have like 5 attempts going at the same time.

I'll follow along with you for the posted amount of $5.00!

Good luck!

Intrinzik, yes, I plan to have multiple attempts going at same time. This was something else I learned in my short initial attempt that there would be days where I'd wish I had 2 or 3 plays at a particular price that I could play or that I simply don't want to rely upon waiting for an attempt to be done before proceeding onto the next one.

Off point, I particularly enjoyed your series chase system in the NBA. I did not see how you fared at the end as I already said my goodbyes to the NBA season, switching my focus to MLB. Wondered if any series chases had to end without a win or you managed to finish all series?

Cheers,

I see that Tigers didn't come to the park today as Red Sox is blowing this game out in the open, now 7-1 in bottom of 8th.

I thought I'd throw in 1 more bet tonight for this thread. I already have a regular bet on SD tonight.

I am going to play the RL as well.

P.S. Normally, I will have all plays by mid-afternoon & will not add plays as the night goes on because I know I usually wouldn't have that luxury to play a 7:05pm ET game & then any 10:05pm ET game in sequential order anyway. I rather just list the plays for the entire evening instead.

Attempt B, Bet #1:

San Diego Padres-1½ (+155)
Risked $5.00 to win $7.75

i started mine a few days ago... i had 3 for $10 each. i wiped out on 2 of them and got the 3rd one to 3 wins. then i started another one and i'm up to 5 wins on that one. 10 -> 250 right now... not sure how much further i will go. net win will take me near 500 and then 1000 in 7.

In regards to my NBA series chase system, it finished with about 35 units of profit ($3500 profit using $100 units), and a final track record of about 35-0 (it could have been 34-0, I am not sure and don't have the exact records on this computer). The only thing that I absolutely disliked about the system is that I had to bet so much money on one series that came down to the second to last play. I was really sweating it because there was so much money on the line. That is why, when I use the system next season I will be using much smaller units ($20-25). I should be able to net a nice profit during the course of the season, and my max bet if a particular series goes to the second to last or even final play, I won't be betting too much in relation to my bankroll. Still, it will be a substantial amount but not nearly the same as was the case using $100 units for this season.

I will possibly be running several other NBA systems next year, as well. I haven't decided on which ones as of yet and to tell you the truth I have not really done any back checking on any of the systems that I currently have, as well as I haven't actively seeked out additional systems to back check and possibly use.

I am really getting into just using systems for my wagers these days, with the occassional day that I will see a stellar bet or two, but not very often does that occur. I am hoping to go strictly mechanical (using only system plays) for all of my wagering starting with the next NHL and NBA seasons. I am already using many MLB systems (some of which are posted on this forum by another member) as well as a few others that have been back tested and defintely check out. So far so good and using $50-100 units (depending on the particular system), I am up quite a bit so far this season already! Let's just hope that trend keeps up, but I see no reason that I should end up with no profit at the end of the season. In my eyes, system play is strictly the way to go.

Poker Ninja, that's the idea I was thinking all along. At first, I was trying to copy Wagerline.com just too literally by making the minimum bet of $1 and just build it up and up and up. Realized it'd be many attempts (though at per $1, it's still cheap) before I finally can hit 10+ in a row or something.

So I gave up the snail's pace. Not quite at the rabbit's pace, but a turtle's pace will do.

From what I can guess from spreadsheet numbers, your average bets were around -110? Just wondering because this obviously is more challenging to play MLB ML's. MLB totals or RL would be the way to go, or using NBA spreads.

In any case, if you are already at $250's (bet #5), you can stop now & basically use this winnings ($200 or so) to make another $10 bets again. Then you can ride each one bit further. Maybe do 6 in a row then "consider that successful". Do this for every streak you make. You'd be only playing with streak money! :)

May 14th results

Attempt A, Bet #1:
Bodog

Detroit +153
Risked $5.00 to win $7.65

Lost, 7-1

Attempt B, Bet #1

Comments: I can't complain splitting 1-1 with those prices. Looking forward to several more picks for tonight. I do have one strong dog in mind already that I'm sure some would disagree on. Post coming up next.

May 15th first play

Attempt B, Bet #2:
Bodog

(926) Chicago White Sox+137 Tue@8:10p
Competitor: (925) New York Yankees
* Mike Mussina (R) must throw first pitch for New York Yankees or this pick is NO ACTION.
* John Danks (L) must throw first pitch for Chicago White Sox or this pick is NO ACTION.
Risk $12.75 to win $17.47

This play was made more of how the Yankees bats have been stone cold in last few games (against Seattle of all teams) as well as feeling that there is value on the rookie southpaw, John Danks, for the White Sox tonight.

(info below gotten from sportsline.com)
===
Yankees batters scored only 1 run and hit .171 in 20 2/3 innings against Seattle's southpaws. Danks limits left-handed batters to a .167 average, compared to .272 for righties.
===

Mussina has apparently recovered from his stint on the DL, but this is not a fade on him; basically fading on Yankees being on the road after a terrible series against Seattle and now facing White Sox on their turf.

So I like the +137 price on CWS. I will have more new attempts later on.

Thanks to everyone who has replied in this thread so far.

Thanks to everyone: sds23, Primož, McCabe, and soswalter.

I hunted for potential values to begin my 1st bets for more attempts (+140 or better) but I didn't find anything good and I even thought to be more flexible with some +100 or better leans. I decided not to bother with those bets. For the record, they were LAA +108 and NYM -1.5 +135. I also think PIT -1.5 +175 looks good but no bet either.

I'll just ride with the CWS attempt tonight.

not sure if i'll go all the way with 10, but i'm at 6 wins as of today. i took a couple of chances with +120 on white sox and +130 on cardinals, but played it safe otherwise. if i keep using -150 or -160 games, the growth is so much smalelr. even 10% makes a HUGE difference... depending on how i do today i bases and nba, i may continue the parlay or stop it at 6. i might start the next one at $20 and try for 6. that should be interesting.

as the money gets bigger, it gets harder to bet. last season i had $16 in my online sportsbook. i just kept on going "allin" on my bets. the first bet was a playoff game between detriot and cleveland. i won that game. the last game was heat v mavs game 6 of nba finals. by the end of the nba playoffs, i turned $16 into $1600. when i reached somewhre around 600, i stopped betting it all. just 100 or 200 a game. but the final game i that i bet, i all. i was so confident the heat would win. so i know its possible to go on a run. i made 100x my money in a month or so. lets do it again!!!
