Two of my dogs just went fight club on each other. This is what happened..... I went outside to feed my dogs and as they were following me, I believe my Beagle (female, 1-2 yr) snapped at the Akita (female, 1-2 yr) and before I knew what was happening, it was AWWWWWN.

They went at each other like two rival wolves on NGC for a good 2 mins. I tried my best to stop it as I held on to Akita's tail for dear life, as she would've mauled the much smaller Beagle (50 pounds to 25 pounds). But it kept escalating because the Beagle doesn't back down and kept coming at her. If that weren't bad enough, my Aussie (male, 1-2 yr) took a few shots at the Akita.... I guess to protect his best friend (Beagle). </p>

I managed to pick up the Beagle and take her inside as they continued to snap at each other. As I carried her, I got chills because her entire coat was wet which meant blood. But thankfully was just water.... and the only wound was on her neck: a puncture. Doesn't seem to be serious as we were able to stop the bleeding immediately.

The Akita and Aussie are both fine.

I do not know how they suddenly became enemies..... they had been great friends since January, when the Akita was given to us by a breeder. They were always playful and even "kissed" each other with their tongues. The Beagle is spayed as she was adopted from the pound in Nov 06. Don't think the Akita is.

The first time they snapped at each other was when I was carrying the Akita in m yarms. The Beagle seems to get jealous and snaps at her. Then the Akita fights back.

But earlier today, they went at it while I was inside. It sounded like a mauling which freaked me out.

So anyone know WTF is going on??????

I am especially worried because I have two Chihuahuas that will be coming to live with me and they are both dominant personalities and wouldn't hesitate to challenge a larger dog, which could get them killed with this Akita.

You gots to be the pack leader man, like Cesar says, put the alpha hold on them and show them who's boss! Or take them to Michael Vick's house, he likes to take care of aggressive dogs.

Akita's are pretty territorial dogs, and are actually quite prone to aggression. My best friend had one, and she was beautiful and docile, until kids came around.

You should probably have her spayed as a start. Then like juice says, you have to be the pack leader.

were they feeding? first thing would be to seperate them when they eat, but you need to make it clear that you will not tolerate them fighting...discipline them immediately at the first signs of aggression. have a buddy over that is confident with dogs for help and introduce the two dogs, make them both lie down next to eachother (submissive position) and sit with them and reassure them, if you see any growling, etc....immediate discipline....be patient and firm.

good luck

Thanks all for the advice.

Decided to seperate them for good. The akita & the stray will be banished to my dad's.
