The one I did buy yielded a free scratch off. The free one didn't give me anything. I see bums spending every penny they get at the local gas stations buying these things. They will actually win like $25 or something and then instead of buying food or whatever they buy more scratch offs.
Can't say my luck with government gambling has been a complete failure. I did win $14 on the lottery the one time I played a few years ago. I should have bought 7 scratch offs...could have hit it big.

I've never won anything...I remember wasting $20 on 4 scratch tickets & winning nothing...and I felt stupid for wasting $20, and never playing again.
Yet- I had no problem throwing a few hundred dollars on Sydney Ponson just last month.
I'm still trying to figure out, how these two scenarios are similar.

I got hammered at a bar and started to walk home. On the way home, I remembered I was supposed to pick up my buddy who was flying into Boise at around 6:30. Had about 4 hours to sober up so I figured if I went home I'd just pass out.
Ended up at a gas station. Stayed there almost 4 hours, played every single lottery ticket in the store until I won once and was drinking water and energy drinks the whole time.
Was down about $150 before I bought my 5th $15 ticket, the last one I hadn't won at. Won the $250, made a nice profit, sobered up enough to pick up my bud, and then couldn't go to sleep for a while because I had like 5 energy drinks. Good night.

Funny, isn't it? I went to Vegas in January with my old lady, and I got hammered for around $500 in one particular blackjack session. That didn't bother me...what did was when I found her playing slots and she talked me into throwing $2 into a machine next to her just for fun. Of course I lost, and I was genuinely pissed at myself for being so stupid.
I played a scratch off in high school...my buddy and I just turned 18, and on the way home we stopped to get something to eat and saw a machine standing outside the supermarket. We both lost, and I decided "Fuck this stupid scam" to myself. I haven't played one of those since, and don't plan on it. The juice the government enjoys on those is enough to classify it as fucking stealing from people...
