Didn't Pete Axthelm die suddenly out of nowhere? He was like NBC's version of Jimmy The Greek...Jane Kennedy was a beauty, so was Phyllis George....Irv Cross was the gentleman of the group , he was also an ex-NFL player.

Jimmy The Greek died shortly after he was fired from CBS for the racial remarks about black athletes....those close to him said he was never the same after being fired, it was his life.

thanx journey ....that was the good oldays...irv cross was truly a gentlemen ex philly eagle... n i loved jimmy the greek ...i remember when cbs aired a peace about lyle alzado before oakl met washingt...jimmy was literally in tears after the interview...i think he got a really raw deal just like campanalis ....i don't think neither one was a rascist ...but i am curious about jimmmy's reeel life gamblin habits .n how good he was/ ....also, fvckn jane kennedy was just unfvcknbelievable ....the ax was also ahead of his time before he passed...no way would the networks now predict spread lines although espn 's berman does on a few games....please more info on jane n where she is living :thumbsup: :think2:

"The NFL Today" and NBC's "kickoff" pregame shows were the best!! Now the shows are filled with camera hogs trying to show up the other guy. Jayne Kennedy was hot and I think she was married to Reggie jackson. Dont know if she still is but im pretty sure they were at 1 time.

Jimmy the Greek was a gambler and not a great one. I know of a couples of people who were good friends of his. One time he came to Boston for the Celtic game and show and as he was walking in North Station towards the Garden he was with Brett and he blew off his friends in a big way. They were stunned but that is because he cannot be seen with notorious big time gamblers right before gametime working for CBS. They understood afterwoods.
