The Cleveland Indians Fausto Carmona has been unbeatable since he outdueled Twins ace Johan Santana almost three weeks ago. The right-hander looks to do it again and help the Indians complete a three-game sweep of Santana and the Twins on Thursday at Jacobs Field. Carmona (4-1, 3.12 ERA) is 4-0 with a 1.80 ERA in his last four outings beginning with a victory over Minnesota and Santana on April 24. He is 1-1 with a 3.24 ERA in six appearances against them. Santana (4-3, 3.35) pitched well in his last start, but took the loss when he gave up two runs over six innings of a 7-3 loss to Detroit on Friday. The left-hander allowed four runs in seven innings in the first matchup against Carmona and fell to 7-3 with a 3.21 ERA in 25 appearances - 15 starts - against the Indians. He's 2-0 with a 1.80 ERA in three road starts this year. Predicted score: Twins 4 Indians 3
Play: under 8.5 ($260/200$)

The Marlins and Ramirez go for their third straight win as they close out a four-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park on Thursday. In 10 career games against Pittsburgh, Ramirez is 16-for-38 (.421) with nine runs and six stolen bases. While Pirates manager Jim Tracy was able to wait out LaRoche's struggles, his patience with starting pitcher Tony Armas (0-3, 8.76) is nearing an end. Tracy stressed the importance of this outing to Armas, whose spot at the back of the rotation is in jeopardy. Armas has pitched more than five innings only once in six starts and was tagged for five runs in two innings of Pittsburgh's 9-2 defeat to Atlanta on Sunday. Armas is 0-4 with an 8.57 ERA in his last five starts against the Marlins since a win on July 23, 2004. Ricky Nolasco (1-1, 6.06) gets the start for the Marlins, hoping to continue his success on the road, where he is 1-0 with a 2.00 ERA in two starts. The right-hander held Washington to one run and three hits in four innings in Florida's 7-3 loss on Saturday, but did not return after a lengthy rain delay. Nolasco has yet to allow a run to the Pirates in two overall appearances. He limited them to four hits in 7 1-3 innings to earn the win in Florida's 5-0 victory on July 22. This will be the same matchup like yesterday was in texas/tampa. There wore 19 runs but today i see 12-14 runs in this game and that line of 9 is too small.
Predicted score: Marlins 8 Pirates 4
Play: over 4.5 1st hf ($275/200$)
Play: over 8.5 ($130/100$)

The New York Mets and Chicago Cubs waited out a rain delay of just over three hours to avoid playing a doubleheader. Their reward is a quick turnaround ahead of the finale of a four-game series on Thursday afternoon at Shea Stadium. Jason Vargas (NR) makes his Mets debut after spending the last two seasons with the Florida Marlins. The left-hander, who was 2-3 with a 5.30 ERA at Triple-A New Orleans, went 1-2 with a 7.33 ERA in five starts and 12 overall appearances last season, walking 30 and giving up nine homers in 43 innings. He is 1-0 with a 3.75 ERA in two lifetime appearances versus the Cubs, giving up five runs and 10 hits with seven walks in 12 innings.
Angel Guzman (0-0, 3.57 ERA) has what could be a make-or-break start for him after Piniella said earlier this month the Venezuelan right-hander would get at least three starts. Guzman's has allowed five runs and 11 hits in 10 1-3 innings in his previous two outings, but the Cubs have scored only three runs in support. Guzman, who was reached for four runs and nine hits in 5 1-3 innings Saturday at Philadelphia, will be making his first-ever appearance against the Mets. Predicted score: Mets 5 Cubs 3
Play: Ny Mets -1 ($100/115$)
