Poor brotha had a 1 in 3 shot of taking home a million dollars but instead left with enough money to buy a quarter tank of gas $25. He should have taken the $300k offer

why he didnt take the 300k is beyond me. I have no idea what some of these people are thinking about when playing this game.
He had a 66 percent chance of not picking the right case, why bet 300k on that.
Even if it was down to just 2 cases, why not take the sure money. Am sure the guy in everyday life wouldnt flip a coin for 1000 bucks, so why basically flip a coin for 300k.
This guy will have nightmares for the rest of his life.
They did give him a jeep thou, donated from chrysler.
What exactly did he do that they were calling him a hero?

Yeah that was stupid. But I was one of those people shouting at him to go for it. Hey it's not my money!

I believe he was a firefighter on 9/11.... so they gave him a free car.

Depends on what the third case was to determine if he made a positive expectation decision or not.

Doesn't matter. Positive expectation or not, you don't gamble 300K. You take the fucking deal.

You take the deal, unless 300k is chump change to you. I'd say you'd have to be worth several million minimum not to take it.

Do what he did and there's no chance in hell that you'll be worth several million in the first place

Disagree if the other case is a 50 dollar one I think you have to take one more case. I don't like the idea of pissing away 33 grand. Now, I cannot fault someone for playing it safe, but you cannot say 100 percent to take the fucking deal. That is just not solid game theory in any way shape or form.

no reason not to take a sure 300k and invest it. only way to take the gamble like everybody here has already stated is if you already have a few million in the bank.
he will regret that move for the rest of his life. Not to many times in life an average person has a chance of making 300k all at once.

Like I said it depends on that person's situation. The fact you don't get to play this game again is important, but you cannot say he made a stupid choice if the math says it was a good one.

You have to factor in the future value of the money. It's pure gambling when the bet is so big. Even if you're giving up 50K, the possibility of getting nothing is great. The future invested value of 300K is enormous. It's millions of dollars and a guaranteed secure retirement. But I guess if someone's willing to push so much on something like this, they probably would be spending it instead of investing it. I understand the math behind what you're saying, but in this game, you have to ignore the math, as long as the offer is somewhat reasonable. You have to take your profit too soon. 300K is way more than the expected value of your take home when you started the game. Take the money and make it grow on your own over a lifetime, instead of an all-in gamble in the moment. Even if that gamble is +EV.

that's about how much time I've spent with it, since watching one episode, it just is a lame show.

I like Identity as a gameshow, even 5th grader ( to see the dummies answers).

I agree, the game sucks and is unwatchable. A quick peak during a commercial of whatever else I am watching to check out the women is plenty for me.

Typical move. $300K buys his family some security for the rest of their lives.
Instead he gambles it away.

These idiot contentants on this show are what make people watch ... ohh ya that and the hot ladies!

I was rootin for the bro till he passed on the 305k offer, then you just knew his ass was going over the cliff. Said he makes 72k a year as a construction worker. . Howie warned him...the models were rooting....All to no avail. Nice guy, Hero, but bad player.

Lisa gets my vote for hottest model.
