Batters 1-6 for the Angels are almost a guaranteed run every other inning. which is why they put gary jr. in the 4 spot behind vlad. plus the bullpen is imo the best bullpen in baseball...well behind that of the bo sox

also lackey is starting to have complete command of his pitches

I played the Angels tonight. Lackey's career numbers against Detroit are nice, and I think this is a great situational fade of Maroth and a good fade of the Tigers off their revenge sweep of the Cardinals.

But, you need to wake the fuck up about some things. Neither Boston nor the Angels have anywhere near the best bullpen in baseball. The Angels have the third best bullpen in California.

The Angels lineup is nothing special, and not really better than Detroit's. Batters 1-6 are pretty damn ordinary compared to the other AL teams.

Uh, I'm on the Angels, but to say that they're way better than the Tigers? Wrong.

"Lackey is 5-0 with a 3.47 ERA in seven starts against Detroit, including three victories at Comerica Park."

Looks good!

HERE ARE SOME STATS FOR YOU WHY THE HELL IS THIS MAROTH WINNING ANYWAY. CALL IT LUCK I GUESS.

At 7:05pm our Sucker Bet of the Month is on the Los Angeles Angels over the Detroit Tigers. It's time for the magic carpet ride that Tigers lefthander Mike Maroth is on to end. The man who once lost 21 games in a single season (in 2003) can do no wrong so far in 2007 as he has a 3-0 record and the Tigers are an amazing 7-0 in games which he's started despite some pretty ugly stats. Maroth has an ERA of 4.69 and an unsightly WHIP of 1.71, but he has yet to lose. That isn't to say he hasn't had his problems this season. In fact Maroth is coming off of an illness that has kept him sidelined for almost a month and caused him to miss his last start last Thursday. It's hard to imagine that he will be anywhere near 100% when he takes the mound against one of the best teams in the American League. The Angels will start one of their best in righthander John Lackey, whose stats have been anything but unsightly with a 6-3 record, 2.43 ERA, and 1.25 WHIP. Maroth has obviously been bailed out by his offense several times in order to have a record as good as he does, but look for that to not be the case tonight against one of the top teams and pitchers in the American League. Take the Angels. As always, good luck...Al McMordie.

I Agree, I believe it is a fade of Lackey he has been one of the top 2 or 3 pitchers in baseball so far.

its hard to argue with numbers:
maroth 7-0, tigers won last meeting he pitched in this year.
det 13-7 @home, 9-1 last 10 @home
laa 10-12 away
lackey has been good this year, but saying that a team/pitcher is "due to lose" is one of the worst betting strategies around

I know how many people hate laying juice on a road favorite... but not all home dogs win their games either (and I'm sure the Tigers have been a home dog and lost, too).

So it boils down to whether a person thinks -130 is a good play on a team (no matter where the team is; at home or on the road).

A -130 bet would require you to win more than 56.5217% of the time to make it a profitable play, that's basically it.
