I really got to believe that. They were improving this year and when you add Oden to this team they look great.

Start Line Up Could Be:

Jarret Jack - PG
Brandon Roy - SG
Darius Miles - SF
Zach Randolph - PF
Greg Oden - C

Thats 3 possible All Stars in Roy, Oden and Randolph.

Plus that would give them a deep bench with

LaMarcus Aldrige, Webster, Outlaw, Magloire

MAYBE a contender for the 8th spot, but doubt it in the West. They will need some time to gel. Oden isn't going to have the impact people think his rookie yr. He will get fouls galore called against him and veteran NBA post-man will not want to get humiliated by him. Oden will have a bullseye til he's established. I doubt Blazers make the playoffs.

Start Aldridge, trade Randolph. Blazers will make it, Sonics won't

They might make the playoffs - but a major playoff contender? - they are not remotely close to SA, Dallas or the Suns or the Nugs - Denver will look to get better too - and SA is going to have money this off season if you could imagine them getting stronger - I would imagine Dallas or Phoenix make some sort of big changes - they have both been very good the last few years and have nothing to show for it.

right now, theyre collecting young talent. but it takes awhile to put it all together in the nba. look at the bobcats. on paper (and when healthy) they have a roster filled with college all-americans. yet they really arent anywhere near the playoffs. portland will probably win 10 more games next year but do you really see any of the 8 playoff teams from that west relinquishing their spot next season? maybe denver, but thats iffy.

Portland stil a long, long while away from contending, even for the playoffs.

Definate playoff contender next year, no question about it. They do need to strengthen themselves at the point guard position though. Jack a good backup, but not a playoff level starting point guard. This team is now going to be great on defense though.

Definitely tough to crack the top 8 in the West, but I think they will be right in the mix next year. Oden will make an immediate impact.

3 years from now maybe ....Next year in the tough West ... they'll be fighting for 10th seed , maybe an outside shot at #8 only to be swept in the first round ....

In the East, probally. In the West...no. Oden is way too green for the NBA right now. In a couple years he'll be force. I do believe he's a walking double double. But grabbing a spot in the west is easier said than done for the portland Trailblazer.

By Major Playoff Contender I ment a team with a great chance of making the playoffs, I didn't mean Championship Contender, a team that could win it all.

I could see them making the playoffs losing 4-1 in the first round but within the next 2 - 4 years I see a huge playoff run from this team (maybe finals) if they stay together. They still are very young but when they play as a team for a while and develop I can see big things. Darius Miles was injuried almost the whole year so with him he back he can score 13 14 pts a game.

This team has a very bright future... I give them a few years before they gel and make a push at a playoff spot... The west is brutal...

Well I am very excited about the teams future here. I do agree that it is going to take a couple years before we can make a good run at the playoffs but it is nice to see the Blazers are finally moving in the right direction..
