They fought twice and both were absolute wars...Bowe was definitely an entertaining heavyweight, Gulota was pretty much a dirty fighter I remember the big brawl after the fight,
Gulota was a little-respected fighter with a reputation for being wild, and had frequently resorted to fouls and dirty tactics.... He had bitten one fighter while in trouble, hit people after the bell, used his forearms, and intentionally head-butted a fighter while ahead in that fight.
Bowe seemed to be a higher caliber fighter, and was far better known than Golota so, if Bowe were victorious, he wouldn’t truly win anything since the public and boxing writers felt that he should beat Golota easily. If Bowe were to lose to Golota, then he'd be losing to a "nobody" and it would damage his status in the division just as he was looking for a title shot. Naturally, few actually gave Golota a chance.
