Alright so I tanked on Thursday, skipped out yesterday and decided to get back on track with tennis before getting back to bases. I am now 17-3 in my last 20 tennis wagers (1 or 2 per day max so its been two weeks about) and now that the ball is rolling there, I am ready to keep making money in bases. My tennis picks are still posted on the tennis only website most people know about but I am thinking of bringing them over here as well. Anyways, it's time to kick the day off with a bang and all I have to say is...here we go:

NEW YORK YANKEES ML -171

Okay so anyone who has bet on the Cincinnati Reds the last three nights knows how much of a mistake it is to bet on teams in this range of price but I think this can be considered a bit different. The Yankees are still the Yankees. The Yankees still have one of the best lineups in baseball and it's really only a matter of finding the right spots for them to get their shit together. Well I think is a great spot because their one and only ace right now is on the mound and seeing how they are not winning without him, this is their only chance to win games. Before they even post the lineups for this game I just want to advise you guys that Johnny Damon is not playing and Melky Cabrera is most likely taking his spot in the lineup. I am telling you guys that because that's a good thing and that should actually help the Yankees win. Damon is batting .163 lifetime in 49 career at bats versus Kelvim Escobar so like I said before, the fact that he is out of the lineup is a benefit and it forces the Yankees to switch things around. Cabrera has only faced Escobar twice and gone 0 for 2 but he is hitting .318 lifetime versus the Angels and might provide a small spark for these guys. Speaking of Escobar, he has been virtually unhittable as of late but his numbers at Yankee Stadium are dreadful. Escobar has started 9 times in Yankee Stadium, has a record of 3-4 here with an ERA of 6.16 and a WHIP of 1.74. The Yankees are hitting .293 at home versus right handed pitchers this season so this is the best possible spot to take them. The Angels on the other hand are facing the temporary ace for the Yankees...Chien-Ming Wang. The Taipei import struggled in his only start against the Angels but he's a much better pitcher now and the Yankees have won three of his last four starts. The Angels are hitting only .242 on the road versus right handed pitchers so this is a great spot to fade them. I think one of the only reasons Escobar's numbers are that good, this early on in the season is because he has made 6 of his 8 starts at home this season and Kelvim has always traditionally been a much better home pitcher than he has on the road. Escobar has also had the pleasure of facing several American League Central and West teams but when asked to face AL East teams like the Yankees, the Angels are 1-5 in his last six starts versus this division...the heavy hitting division. Wang on the other hand has been one of the better 'weekend' pitchers in baseball as the Yankees have won something like 9 of their last 10 games when he starts on a Saturday (could be pure coincidence). What I like most about Wang's numbers however is that he has been one of the best pitchers in MLB over the last few years when it comes to helping his team bounce back from a bad loss. I'll explain a bit more about that below. Home Plate Umpire Jeff Nelson has always been a big time homer so it's going to help to have him calling balls and strikes against a guy like Chan who can be wild at times. Derek Jeter, Hideki Matsui, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi, Bobby Abreu and Robinson Cano all have excellent career numbers against Escobar and I think this is going to be a big afternoon for the Bronx Bombers. Escobar is not in the right spot to make a good start and I think with this kind of price, I just can't go any other way but the Yankee way. I'm feeling very green today but I don't know what to do so it's up to the Yankees to cut my damn lawn, eat my damn veggies and show me some CASH FUCKIN MONEY DOLLA DOLLA BILLS YALL!

Stat of the Game: The Yankees are 18-3 in Chien-Ming Wang's last 21 starts following a game where the team allows 5 runs or more. That makes him one of the best bounce back starters in MLB over the last few years.

i don't think i'd EVER see you advocate taking a BAD team and at -171 on top of it! But you gotta stick with your instincts...

FWIW, I also like the Yankees in this situation. Right now I'm debating if the risk is worth the reward with these guys, though!

If you guys are degenerates like me...it's worth it on the only game available at 1:05pm. LOL! Much better than sitting out anyways and there are so many betting options later on tonight like UFC 71, NBA, MLB, MLS and so on...

True, a very full day of wagering opportunities. I may even make a play for UFC 71 (if not only for the entertainment factor), but if I don't like a certain game or team, there is no reason why I should play it. I'm certainly not a degenerate, but I might have been when I first started betting. Then I wised up. Ever since then it has been more enjoyable and lucrative for me (betting mainly systems, with a FEW handicapped bets in between).

FLAVA who you like in UFC?

Iceman is on another level right now and the price is the best it has been in ages on him. He looked brutal in his first loss to Rampage a long time ago but both fighters have since changed and the only thing left for Iceman to complete his legacy is to avenge this loss. Iceman for me. GL!

Bingo. Gambling part of the forum, tennis section and everyone posts in the same thread. No invidual threads there...everyone under one roof with their picks. Had one posted this morning for the Saturday matches...not many North Americans posting there.

Good Saturday to you Mistaflava. I see where home plate umpire Jeff Nelsonas an over-under record of 2-6 this season todate. Wondering if this dictates a low scoring affair which is bad because I would think that if the Yankees are to win this one, they have to tee off on Escobar. Just a thought. Do you agree or disagree with this thought on the Yankees?

Can you email me the 'tennis only' site location as well when you get some time. (tony_3027@hotmail.com) Thanks Flava. :103631605

Again I can't win in bases, been a bad 3-4 days but doesn't mean im gonna stop. What was I thinking taking the Yankees here? I am losing all my tennis winnings on afternoon baseball games but it's time to pound away on some good plays and it's time to get the ball rolling in the right direction. This is the one game I circled last night as a big pound away play and I am all over for my largest wager of the day. Enough of this crap, onto the play. Here we go:

DETROIT TIGERS ML -122

I know a lot of people see tons of value on the Indians as underdogs but I don't see it that way. Sure the line movement is as sketchy as it gets because most people are pounding away on the Tigers yet the line is moving the wrong way but I have learned not to think like that in baseball and I have learned that you go with capping instincts first and worry about the rest later. Ding Ding Ding. The single best spot to take the Tigers is when they are at home and facing a left-handed pitcher and I say that because they are batting .321 versus lefties at home this season and the money train is going to keep on rolling this afternoon. On the mound in this one for the Indians is their ace CC Sabathia but this is the same Sabathia that saw his own team go 0-3 in the three starts against the Tigers last year despite him pitching well. In his last three starts he has allowed 22 hits in 19.0 innings of work and in those starts he has an ERA of 3.66 and a WHIP of 1.27. That pretty good and yes his team is 2-1 in thsoe starts but its not as good as Verlander for the Tigers. Detroit is now 3-0 in Verlander's last three starts and in those starts he has allowed 20 hits in 21.0 innings of work but most importantly he has an ERA of 2.57 and a WHIP of 1.05. I also noticed that the offense shows up for him these days as they have provided him with 6.7 runs per game of support in his last three starts and that's enough to make me believe that this team is going to come out swinging the bats after the loss to the Indians last night in the series opener. Cleveland is batting only .252 versus right handed pitchers on the road this season and Verlander beat them once at home and once on the road last season. I know how much the Indians have been winning with Sabathia on the mound but they are 1-4 in his last five starts on the road versus a team with a winning record which tells me that he and the Indians have been feasting on much weaker opponents in most of his road games. Detroit is on a serious roll against left-handed pitchers as they have won six straight games against them and have won 13 of their last 16 games as a favorite. So this is a great spot to take this team against the kind of pitcher they love to hit hard. I also like the fact that the Tigers seem to rally around the young pitcher Verlander as they are 6-1 in his last seven starts as a favorite and they have been swinging the bats pretty dam well for this kid. We have another cash of a homer umpire in this game and like I said earlier in the writeup, I just don't see how this team is going to lose the first two games of this series...they have too much fire power and are too good for that. Alright, it's time to sit back enjoy this baby. I am really really hungry for a win now so its up to the Tigers to serve me some CASH FUCKIN MONEY DINNER BABY!
