Do Triple A players root for their teammates?

I would imagine that AAA ball is one of the more superficial places in the world. Everyone holding on to the dream of being called up, and nobody being happy to still be in the minors. Do pitchers silently root for the other pitchers to fail? Do outfielders hope the other outfielders strike out, while they are sitting in the dugout? Are players at that level really hoping to go out everyday and get a win, or are they just hoping that they do well themselves? I mean, the ultimate competition isn't really the opposition, but it is their own teammates. Just thinking out loud and wondering.

I'd assume that it'd be difficult to root for someone who plays your position, but not for the other guys on your team. Playing a full season with the other guys, bulding comraderie, I'd think it'd be difficult to not root for your teammates to be successful...unless they're your prime competition. And there really should only be one or two other guys who fall into that category.

And at the same time, these guys should know that so long as they do their jobs, take care of their own business, the rest will take care of itself.

You cheer for the team. You get better through competition and you cheer for guys playing your position as well. At least most guys do. Of course their are some assholes or bad teammates who cheer against players on the team and those are the cancers of the clubhouse

Of course you would like to think so. But people are selfish. AAA guys make what, 30K? Big league guys make 380K. Even in the majors, how many guys are willing to hit to the right side to move the guy on 2nd to 3rd. How many guys want to win more than they want to increase their stats? Not many. David Eckstein is one of the few.
