Alright guys...went back to capping basic after my 2-3 bad days in a row and seeing how this is the beginning of a new week, I am ready to pound away on some plays and start getting serious about baseball. All the plays I have posted recently have been for small amounts and its been weeks since I posted a large play. However, I really really like this one right here which is why I am going to make it my largest play of the year. Here we go, buckle those seatbelts and pound away:
NEW YORK YANKEES ML -129 ***Largest Play of the Year***
I made a pretty big mistake yesterday when I bet against Kelvim Escobar and I missed several key fundamental points of betting on the one and only afternoon baseball game of a Saturday. Anyways, like I said before I went back to the basics of capping for this game and found the best possible play for the early morning. Let's start by taking a look at the series. The Angels have won the first two games and outscored the Yankees 13-7 which is not devastating if you're the Yankees. It's not like they have really blown you out in any of the games so the probability of things turning around is high. You have to keep in mind that in recent years the home team has dominated this series which is another reason to think things are about to turn around for the Yankees. The pitching matchup is exactly what I have been waiting for to pound away on a certain team. On the mound for the Angels is John Lackey, who has been sensational lately and who is single handedly reponsible for giving us such a nice line to pound away on the Yankees. Lackey has allowed only 12 hits in his last three starts with an ERA of 1.86 and a WHIP of 0.93. Sounds really good doesn't it? Well before you go crazy and bet on the Angels, please understand that the Yankees bats now have some kind of motivation to hit one of the best pitchers in baseball in recent weeks unlike they attitude they had yesterday against a guy who had been killed at Yankees Stadium in the past. Mike Mussina is on the other side of the mound and I love having money on the Moose in a game like this. It's Sunday afternoon, the Yankee faifthful are losing patience and along comes one of the better pitchers over the last decade. The Yankees are 1-2 in his last three starts but he has pitched better than the numbers indicate with a WHIP of 1.28 in those three starts. Forget the ERA, it doesn't matter. Yankee Stadium is still a ballpark that heavily favors the Yankees batting order against right-handed pitchers and I say that because they are hitting .290 at home versusu righties this season while the Angels, who did not hit well yesterday again but had the pitching to win, are hitting only .239 versus right handed pitchers on the road so why would that change today? Like I said, the Angels bats did not win that game yesterday, the Yankees inability to come through in the clutch and the Angels pitching won that game. The last two games Lackey started at Yankee Stadium, the Angels lost. As well as Lackey has pitched this season, he is 3-6 lifetime in 10 career starts versus the Yankees and the Bronx Bombers are hitting .312 against him in his career. Mussina has faced some of the toughest lineups in baseball in his last few starts (Boston, Texas twice, White Sox) so facing the light hitting Angels is going be quite the step down in class for Mussina which is why I am sure he can come in here and do a good job for the Yankees. Mussina has 29 career starts versus the Angels and he has held them to a .253 batting average and won his fair share of games against this team. A lot of people are going to call it a mistake to go against the Angels and Lackey since the combo has been winning so many games as of late but when Lackey is an underdog, and it doesn't happen too often, there's a reason for it and here it's because the books recognize that the matchup is not good. As I mentioned before, the Yankees are 24-6 in Mike Mussina's last 30 Sunday starts which tells me that he comes into weekend games like this ready and tells me that he is clutch in games that decide which way a series goes. Mussina has been one of the better pitchers to bet on when he is at home pitching as a mid-range favorite like today as the Yankees are now 7-1 in his last eight starts when he is favored by -110 to -150. I know betting on the Yankees these days is not the best of ideas but like I said before, the spot is perfect for them to finally win a game against the Angels. The key to beating these guys is to get to them before the bullpen makes it in and whatever runs the Yankees can get in the early innings here, I think Mussina is going to do a good enough job to hold the Angels at bay and lead his team to the win. Like I said before, the step down in class from recent opponents is going to make a massive difference for Mussina. He is well rested and ready to rock and roll on this Sunday afternoon. Okay so I am ready to bust out of my five game slump in a big way this afternoon and now its all up to the Yankees to break down that door, shoot the security guards, tie up the bank manager and SHOW ME THE CASH FUCKIN MONEY BRONX STYLE BABY! Enjoy my largest win of the season because prices like this don't come around very often and when they do, if you miss out, that's just too fuckin bad.
