NEW YORK YANKEES ML -149

Everytime the Yankees have needed a big win this year, Andy Pettite steps up. It was the same when he was first with the Yankees and it's the same now. Pettite has faced 8 different teams, almost all potent offensive threats. Boston ranked 3rd in runs scored in all MLB, 4 times (3 starts) w/ 3.74 ERA. Texas ranked 6th, 2 starts 2.08. Mets #7, 3 ER in 7 IP. MIN #12, 6 IP 0 ER. Overall, he's only had one bad outing vs. Boston. Next, we look at Shaun Marcum, not the best of outings vs. NYY last season. Granted, Pettite doesn't have great career #'s against Toronto but he hasn't faced them in 4 years. Marcum, just last year in 16 IP gave up 15 ER, 6 HR, 25 hits which is a .342 OBA. The players who did most of the damage, are the Yankees best offensive weapons this year in Posada and Jeter. I understand the Yankees bats have been struggling, however good news is they're facing a right handed pitcher. The Yankees are significantly better vs RHP vs LHP, they just havn't hit lefties. I expect Yankees bats to explode tonight and Pettite to be on lockdown mode.

No, I just glanced at the game like I normally do and twisted all the #'s to favor the Yankees. Took about 5 minutes for the writeup.

The Blue Jays own Pettite, all their big guns have ridiculous career #'s verse him.

I wouldn't bet on the Yankees again if I had a shotgun in my mouth.

Andy Pettite is undefeated on Turf. I understand it's just this year but it's a sign of things to come. He's dominated, 6 innings pitched, ZERO runs, and OBA under .200. Historically, Marcum has struggled in May. Last year with an ERA of 18.00 the entire month, it's just not his time of the year and has to wait for the warmer weather to heat up that gun. I expect he'll continue last years poor May effort, and Pettites track record on turf will speak for itself.
