Ok let me get this straight. I am no expert on this subject but here is how I see it.
There was a congressional hearing on the use of steroids in MLB. Players either lied or were silent. MLB responds by setting harsh policies against steroid use. The commission remains undecided on whether to prosecute anyone they felt to be lying.
Now the league and the Commissioner of Baseball is pissed because in a USA Today interview Giambi stated that he regreted using that stuff.
The league wants to come down hard on him because of that interview. It seems to me that he should be applauded for admitting he made mistakes and for wanting to move on and stay clean. It is obvious the league is trying to hide the fact that steroid use was going on. Shouldn't the congressional committee come down on the league and the commish for trying to sweep it under the rug? If the league penalizes Giambi for admitting what we all aready knew then would that not make them look bad in the eyes of the committee?
MLB and everyone involved should feel the full brunt of an investigation. They have to be held accountable especially when they are trying to influence players into lying or keeping quiet.
Someone please tell me why Giambi is under scrutiny?
