Roster took a big hit last night as lack of plays proved to be many poster's undoing. I already see some have posted in today's thread and unfortunately, it's all for naught. If you didn't have at least 3 plays by last night, you can't make the quota. Simple as that. Sorry, but it can't be said I didn't warn people. Best of luck to those who remain.

i think that you should set a 10 games necessary or a long period because not all guys have time to post everyday and that edge you settled means that everyone should pick 3 everyday and if the card wont look good they might pick loosers.

Yeah, that concept allows a poster to be able to "miss" 2 full days for this week only.

During the contest itself, there would be extra flexibility as we are only required to have 10 graded picks from Mon-Sun for the first few rounds (if I remember reading the rules correctly, can you confirm, JoH?).

By the way, JoH, I was sidelined with doing the end-of-month stuff in the Journeyman's baseball contest. I have started a new file & am working on how best to structure my file for ML, RL, O/U plays for this contest; you can email me in my profile as I want to send you my other file (for the other contest just to see what kind of format I have been using). I think I'll wait until we have the final list of qualified players so I can catch up with you at that point (probably in time for the 1st Round this coming Monday).

jack, i was 2-3-1 as of yesterday...yesterday i won tampa bay un 11.5 and Indians moneyline, lost pirates...but now it says 3-5-1, i think it should be 4-4-1 because i went 2-1 yesterday....

Can't speak for him, but as far as I know, as long as you make 15 this week, you're good to go. He did caution people to be safe though, because if you go into Sunday with 12 or 13 plays on the week, and your plays get rained out, you're SOL.

Would it be possible to just give people -1u for each game under 15 they have? Assume they bet a dog and lost...it would suck to have 13 or so plays and be in good shape, then not be able to make 15 due to rainouts or not being able to get to a cpu....not a big deal, just a thought.

Jesus....Most days you have 30 plays to choose from.If you can't find three you really shouldn't be here. Give joh a break. The guy thinks up and creates a great contest and does an unbelievable job of updating everything. Some of you post 40-50 posts a day (30 which are meaningless).if you took that time and capped the games you would find atleast 5 to choose from.

I would suggest that posters who are on the line or already under the line continue to post as many plays as possible until Sunday. This is just a seeding round.

I don't know tennis well, but I certainly believe that in events, there are players who are UNSEEDED that are placed into the uhhh 1st round of whatever it is. Or am I confusing myself with UNRANKED players? Never mind.

Maybe if some posters who have between 10-14 graded picks by Sunday can convince JoH to let them into the H2H tournament (starting Monday) via an unseeded bracket entry. I am not sure if this is fair though.

Example:

Somebody could go 9-3 the next 4 days (THU; FRI; SAT; SUN) and do get an unseeded or very low entry. Then the opponent who is at 12-6 seeded at like #6 (in a 64-team-bracket format) has to face off the unseeded/lower entry (like #11) that missed the cut by a little bit due to lack of picks but having a strong record. Is that fair on the #6 opponent to deal with a 'good 9-3 capper' in the 1st round?

DNoonan's idea was not bad, but we need something better than that... not sure what a solution would be (other than posters making sure they have at least 10 picks for any week, which isn't hard to do).

Personally, in my opinion, I would look at this week as a flexible qualifying round and would allow/slide by posters who do have AT LEAST TEN PICKS. Perhaps the 15 picks for this round only was little too stringent.

IMHO, just as I mentioned in my recent post above, I would suggest that those posters below continue to post plays:

They were the only 5 people who had made a pick in the FIRST 3 days but had run out of leeway room and has been disqualified. I see that gabbana already posted today & expressed desire to continue doing so believing that 10 picks are doable instead of 15 (especially that future rounds would be only 10 picks minimum).

If anyone else is serious but hadn't posted ANY plays yet for whatever reason, they also could try to post the maximum 3 picks for next 4 days to have 12 picks by Sunday.

Let's see what JoH has to say as he's da man! (And has the final word, most importantly!)

I'm a cold hearted soul but rules are rules. Calvin, don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the thought you put into this, but I respectfully disagree that this round should be flexible. My thinking was that this would be a true test to see who is dedicated... who is willing to commit to this contest. There is nothing I hate more than to have people sign up for these things all gung ho and all and then either vanish into mid-air or come in and try to bend the rules. My setup gave plenty of flexibility right from the start and I don't see any reason why I should adapt to their thinking. I have a plan for the head to head competition starting next week and dealing from past experience, I am confident that this will be one heck of a time for all. Enjoy.
