Can you imagine a guy with at least 500 home runs, maybe even 600+ homers. A guy that wins 15 or more gold gloves. A guy that was the youngest player in baseball history to hit a home run in the world series.

A guy with a resume that can stack up to MAYS, MANTLE, WILLIAMS, AARON and others.

But at the same time, does not even get the respect in his own era that he deserves. Heck, you even have people who say hes not a HOFer!

Wow, we are looking at the most underated player in the history of baseball.

At the same time, you have a light hitting SS named Ozzie Smith being praised as one of the top 50 players in the history of the game.

Funny how that works.

But in order to be the most underated player of all-time, you have to be very underated

He also tops my list as worst fantasy draft pick this year. Contract year should have meant success.

This is obviously in reponse to Jayson Stark's article...i would assume?

The thing I don't understand...many read the title of the article, didn't read the article...then got defensive.

Its not like Stark said he was horrible...in fact, if you asked Stark he would say Jones is a very good player...just overrated, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

What exact points in Stark's article did you disagree w/?

He's been dropping steadily in the number of chances he obtains for years now, and you expect him to get SIX more Gold Gloves? Sorry, I don't see that. Furthermore, I think stacking his resume up with the people that you mentioned would be an embarrassment to him...

Putting him in the same sentence as Mays, Mantle and Williams is pure lunacy. If that's how you rate him, then obviously he's overrated.

Good post. When I read the title, I laughed. After reading the article, I thought Starks was pretty fair and had some very good arguments.

i'm betting Chop didn't read the Stark article and is merely responding to the thread title that Andru Jones is the most overrated player of all time.

Just a hunch. Chances are he reads this post and goes and reads the article so he can say i'm wrong
Chances are he doesn't even return to this thread...

Choptalk is an outstanding handicapper, which requires objectivity, but this thread was NOT his finest hour...:nono5:

don't u guys mean to argue that he is "overrated?"

I assume you're not kidding, but just in case you're not, there was a whooooooole other thread on that very subject a few days ago, written by Jason Stark and Choptalk was among the most vocal in insisting that Jones was NOT overrated.
