Did Anyone See Bill Russell's " ENTHUSIASTIC" presentation of the Eastern Conference Trophy ???

Holy Shit ......OLD Marble Mouth Was His Dull Self .....The Tale End Of His Presentation he says to Lebron ...." remember Now, You are Not Just representing Yourself or The Cavaliers....YOu Are Representing The Eastern conference "...WHAT BRILLIANCE ?!!!:missingte

I realize He's Old and a great legend , but damn......for a while I had A nightmare back To the Bird/magic era .WHAT A GREAT ERA ...I Miss Them.....BUT I SURE AS HELL DON"T MISS OLd BILL ...his analysis back then put me to sleep !

I kind of had forgotten about Bill doing the color....yeah he wasn't so hot.

Remember Bill Russell doing that C&P telephone commercial? He takes a shot from his chair at an office desk, he has a hoop across the room and says something about 'long distance' as the shot goes on..... this goes waaaay back.

don't remember that one journey, but i'm guessin you mustve followed the nba for awhile...i grew up with russ / dick stockton / pat o brien ....pretty weird how an active guy that was so creative and energetic on the floor could be so dismal broadcasting...don't get me wrong...i love the celtics and bill....he was just horrible as an anouncer ....one time, i'd love to hear barkley do a nba game and not hold back...that would be great !

A Famous Rusell Line From When He Was Announcing....don't Remember The Player Who Shot The Ball But It Was A Throw Towards The Basker And Went In. Russell Said Without Missing A Beat, Nice Catch Basket.

Bill Russell took the NBA when he played more serious than anybody. He threw up before every single game and studied and loved to win. As an announcer, coach and fan he could care less almost and cracks jokes at will with a loud cackle of a laugh.

As announcer one of his favorite lines was about Vinnie Johnson that he always used to say: "Vinny knows what to do with it" after VJ made a hoop.

ANother time presenting an MVP to Jabbar he said to him in presenting: "
"Kareem you are quite good"...then cackled for 3 minutes"....

he gets a little leeway because of what he has done but just a little.

It is well known that he wanted to get over a contract negotiation, so he quickly signed Joe Kleins contract because he had a golf match on tap. He overpaid big time. He left the Kings office not too long after (he signed a BIG contract with total control and did not last long)....unreal

great stories .......yeah, his crackle laughter was funny i have to admit and he was understated ....i guess they loved heinson /stockton/ russell / pat o brien......those were the good ol days ...:thumbsup:

Russell was there to give cleveland the Eastern confernce champioship Trophy after he was done talking he had to be told by TNT Ernie to give them the trophy.

I'll never forget listening to Bill Russell as a commentator when Chuck Neavitt played for the Lakers and the crowd was cheering him because he was a tall, gangly kid. It was almost like cheering a circus act or geek show.

Now Bill put on this tough attitude when broadcasting like he was this big tough guy and was Mr. Basketball which I guess he was. But he softened up a bit when Neavitt was on the floor and spoke about how he was teased when he was young because he was so tall and gangly too. It made a tough guy appear compassionate for just a little while.

I always appreciated Bill for doing this and I always think of this whenever I see Bill on TV.

good stuff.he seems like a decent guy...mellowed out with age, but it was funny watchn that whole presentation..."ok Bill, YOU HAVE to Hand Lebron The Trophy Now !"...lol
