 Dont know if you guys are aware but in the next week or so, the Gold Cup will be played in the US.....depending on the lines that come out (of course) there may be some big value plays.

The US faces three clearly inferior teams in : El Salvador, Guatemala and Trinidad Tobago.

Mexico faces three cleary inferior teams in: Honduras, Panama and Cuba.

Costa Rica faces two clearly inferior teams in: Haiti, Guadalupe (Islands of) and one similarly matched team in Canada. You guys know Im very honest about the CR team and tell it how it is, just as when I said we sucked for the World Cup and u know how that went, lol.... This CR Team is actually pretty decent and is kicking on all cylinders at the time.

We'll have to wait a few days for the tournament to begin but like I said, if Books arent ready, they might get hit quick.

Both Haiti and Guadaloupe have absolutely no experience at this level and in theory should be obliterated by both Canada and Costa Rica. We are talking Indianapolts Colts vs a state high school champ here. Im not exaggerating either.

Ive seen books setup very funky lines in the past because of the 'obscurity' of some teams or situtations so Im hoping for something similar this time around... Feel free to comment.

Hello try, havent posted regarding it since because the first two games arent of much importance to my initial remarks. The two games tomorrow are: CR - Canada (the closest matchup of any 1st round game). Im leaning towards the under in this one, will look at the starting lineups tomorrow.

The other game is Haiti - Guadaloupe which is the battle of the absolute two worst teams in the Cup.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off Haiti, to me they could be the sleeper team in this tourney that turns a few heads. They are ranked better then my Canadian team (85 vs 94) and have also played many more preparation games with players from their domestic league that are very familiar playing with each other. Just recently in the past couple months they tied a very good Chilean team, beat Honduras, El Salvadore, Trinidad and Tobago, and Panama. Canada has a bunch of talented players that are spread throughout Europe and not that familiar with each other, they have only played 1 game in the past few months, a 2-2 with Venezuala last week. Preparation means a lot for these tournies, Haiti has a lot of it. One other note is Haiti will get a ton of fan support playing in Miami. I hope Canada wins that match but if Haiti is given good underdog odds i may take a stab with them. Costa Rica should easily win the group.

Vancouver, I would really appreciate it if you, a Canadian could give us your opinion on the Canadian team...

AS far as haiti goes, they should be better than Guadaloupe, but not by much. They just finished third in a caribbean cup, I think they tied Panama a month back or so but panama has been in turmoil recently and the tie against Chile, u can throw out the window, Chile does not have their heart in this friendlies, we just beat em 2-0 here in Cr and they showed nothing, in fact were very aggresive (dirty aggresive) had one red card and should have had more.......looked very uninterested....

hope to hear from you.

So we should just wait for the mismatches and parlay the chalks (CR + CAN) in your opinion? I only get 3 way lines and totals, so neither matchup looks too promising

Slim, I am a member of and post on one of the big Canadian Soccer fan forums, and I can tell you even to the most diehard fans this Canadian team is a huge question mark in this tournament. Probably moreso then any other team in this tourney. They shocked all of Concacaf back in 2000 when they beat Mexico in the semi's then Columbia in the final to win the Gold Cup that year with a team much less talented then they have now. But this year's team has had very little preparation at all and players are spread all throughout Europe and the MLS so they've had very little opportunity to play together. They have the talent to get to the semi final round, but that lack of prep is a huge question mark. I would think Costa Rica gets the better of them tonight but I see the Ticos have a few injuries now as well with key players.

Also several players are missing due to the fact that they would rather hold out for the GOLD CUP and be ready for WC 2010 qualifiying in the fall.

Regardless, GO CANADA!
