Ozzie fired less than two years removed from a WS win? Are you nuts?

i dont mind ozzie at all, i like big league managers that show emotion. I cant stand to watch joe torre sit in the dugout, lookin like he doesnt even know the score when his team was in middle of a 5 game losin streak. already 13 gms out

Jack Mckeon fired 7 months after winning it all.

Hardly a new thing.

Ozzie will get run by the end of the season unless they turn it around soon.

Actually, it was 2 years removed. And he wasn't fired, he QUIT. Didn't surprise anyone since he was 74 at the time.</p>

There is no way in hell Ozzie will be fired no matter if they finish last. Why don't you put your money where you mouth is?

Do I smell a bet.

I will bet you that OZZIE is not the manager of the SOX opening day next year unless the SOX finish 2nd or better in there division.

BTW, if he quits, dies or any other thing I win.

Regardless of reason. If he is not the manager of the SOX on opening day I win.

Uh, no.

I'm gonna hold you to your original statement "If Chi-Sox don't finish in the top 2 of their division, Ozzie will be FIRED." If they do finish in top 2, then the bet will be null and void.

$250, it is.

Thats BS.

If he quits I should win.

There are alot of times where the team lets a manager resign to save face.

Most of the time when a manager resigns its only to avoid being fired. quiting and getting fired is the same thing 99% of the time.

I will take out the death clause, but not the quit clause.

Holy cow.... why are you already trying to weasel out of the bet? Your original claim was that Ozzie would get fired no matter what. But I let you include the "unless he finishes in top 2" provision, now you want to include death and quiting also? Would you also like to include if he becomes comatose from an auto accident or if he's kidnapped and held for ransom?

Bullshit.

I said he would get fired in post #5 even before the idea of a bet even came into existance if they did not turn it around.

And as far as the resign thing goes, over half the managers who get fired so called "RESIGN".

Most managers resign and technically do not get fired.

The GM calls the manager in the office and tells the manager that we have to let you go. Then the GM says you can offer your resignation instead and it will make you look like you did not get fired.

It happens all the time. Rarely does a manager get officialy fired. They always resign.

What if the Yanks can Torre and offer Ozzie twice as much money to come manage for them? That would be the same as firing to you?

Dude, are you on planet Earth? .....

"Of the current managers....

Torre
Francona
Little
Bell
Hargrove
Garner
Manuel
LaRussa

were all officially FIRED before. I'm not even including managers that were fired to hire them. So I don't even know how you think "quitting" is the same as a "firing" considering that teams don't care about "saving face."

Leyland, Pinella and Bochy have resigned before but not because they were forced out. They just wanted other managerial jobs.

Now if you want all these "quit, death, kidnap, comatose, etc." provisions included, then I'm still willing to take that bet. But it'll cost you......
