What a perfect movie to show just what the AMERICAN DREAM is all about.

So many people confuse the American Dream to be a lottery ticket. Just because you live in the U.S gives you should have the birthright for greatness. This is not the case.

This is a story about a guy given nothing in life but his desire to be succesful. He did not ask for any handouts. He did not expect the goverment to help him out. He just fought battle after battle until he got what he wanted.

I think every American should watch this movie.

Wil Smith outdid himself in this movie. He should have won every award that there is to win for this flick.

I give the movie a 10 out of 10.

My first 10 rating since the Shawshank Redemption.

my folks saw it in the theatre and loved it, i hate will smith, but will have to give this a look, heard too many good things about it to ignire it. Actually would like to see it on HBO or something.

Saw "Knocked up" saturday night and loved MOST of it, there is a downer section in the late middle of the movie that was just that, a downer..

thought the movie was average and his rise to the top was grossly exaggerated in the way it is done

no way interns are given those clients to wine and dine....movie was a bit unrealistic there

I loved it. The guy went through so much anguish and humiliation in his struggle that it was actually difficult to watch. The scene where he was sleeping in the subway bathroom with his son was extremely powerful. And the great thing about this ture story is that it has a wonderfully happy ending.

I dont like Will Smith usually, but it was shown on a flight recently I was on, so I watched it since I knew it was a true story.

Was a decent movie. Better than I expected, but of course, whenever Will Smith had to yell at or embarass some random stranger, it was a white man, so I downgraded the movie to a C.

Without that, the movie graded against recent movies (5 years or less) would be a solid B+.

I have certainly seen worse movies and the story of that man and his sons lives are great.

Id like to know how stupid his ex-wife feels after he became a multi-millionaire.

And it shows that success has nothing to do with who your daddy is, or what race you are born into.

The people who wants it most in life gets the goods.

Every American should be required to watch this movie.

Choptalk you sound like the guy that was born into the wealthy family or have had lucrative jobs somewhat dropped in your lap.

Now over-stressing how America really is the land of opportunity for anyone and everyone, regardless of SES, race, ethnicity, religion, etc. Probably doing so to justify something else.

Bull shit. Everyone DOES NOT have the same opportunities in this country big man.

He went after what he wanted and ruled out failure as an option. And to succeed in a white-male dominated field as homeless black man was truly amazing. I watched the whole film without realizing that the boy actor was actually Will Smith's son. What an incredibly talented little guy he is. Check out the special features when you rent this film.

I think the point is..."One must make one's own opportunites."

fair enough, and while i agree to a certain extent, I can't stand the idea of many of us white, somewhat privileged individuals to let this movie make us feel good because the film only proves the point that everyone has the same chances and opportunities in this country. This is just not the case and is an ignorant perspective in my opinion.

Im not saying that everyone starts off on the same ground. Of course Bill Gates son is going to have a better chance to be a success than most.

But the bottom line is, everyone has a chance in life. No matter who you are if you do not take no for an answer. And do not blame everyone in life for your misfortune.

Even privledged white individuals have their trials and tribulations. To me, the movie is about overcoming adversity, no matter what your race or circumstances.

i thought the movie was so so at best. When he got put in jail he wrote a check for bail but didn't have the money to pay his rent for the last three months. minor flaw.

It was a good movie. Not great. Yes inspirational, especially living in a world where everyone blames everyone else for their misfortune rather than looking at themselves.

I saw KNOCKED UP this weekend as well and as far as comedy goes, it is one of the best. Everything in life is based on expectations though. I was not expecting much and I laughed out loud several times during this movie. I hardly ever truly laugh out loud but did in this one.
