Interested in your opinions. I have this screen shot of a bet below with sportingbet.com.au which shows I entered $455 as my stake but their internet system has given me a much larger bet. They refuse to refund the difference.

How do they go from 455 to 2272 ?

The numbers are nothing alike.

I was originally going to bet $2272 the bet limit but before finalising the bet I clicked back and entered $455 which their system obviously didn't pick up.

Before finalizing the bet, instead of going back to enter a new amount, next time click cancel and start over instead of clicking back as sometimes it won't pick up and you end up with the original.

Did you call in and let someone know of the mistake immediately or wait until the event went final to file complaint?

The bet was at -227 and was placed just before the game started so it was a waste of time trying to explain the problem to a phone clerk. It took me 2 days to explain it. I thought it would be clear with the screen shot showing I entered $455

not if account showed the larger debit.

Pending must have listed the $2272

I think you would have been paid, so the case seems weak. Maybe SBR would be willing to look at it.

You've got me. If you laid $455 at -227, the bet should have been for $1032.85.

I have no idea how they came up with $2272 (The system either thinks that you laid $1000(still doesn't explain the extra $2) or that the line was -500).

TTinco,

Its all decimals in Australia. I thought I was betting 455 at 1.44 to return=$655.2 but I ended up with 2272 at 1.44 to return=$3271.68

In the ideal world their software would not have this glitch and they would be interested in fixing it and in the ideal world I would have time to explain the problem before the start of the game but this was not the case.

The book's software made the error. I just wanted to bet $455 why do I have to be down 1817?

Mr J,

No I didn't the bet was placed just before the start of the game. Impossible. If it was placed 10 minutes earlier of course I would have.

Thanks Doug I might give that a go.

I will be registering a dispute with the books regulator the Northern Territory gambling disputes section. It will be interesting to see if they have a fair process or just side with the book automatically considering the turnover tax they generate.

You probably should screenshot the process showing how the mistake occurred (and still occurs) if you're going to file an official dispute.

Santo,

I asked the sportingbet Australia if they wanted me to show them the process so they could see it. It would have taken 5 minutes but they just buried their heads in the sand.

Great idea though to show the regulator.
