In their glory days, Nirvana or Sublime?

Nirvana is local and will always be loved here in Seattle, but I gotta go Sublime here. I just relate to the music, and Brad Nowell is the man. Thoughts? Better band than these two ex-powerhouses?

Never really got into Sublime and the stoner-type music. Actually likes Pearl Jam and Soundgarden the best from the Seattle area.

Pearl Jam is a big time favorite around here. Didn't listen to much Soundgarden but Pearl Jam no doubt is up there.

Pearl Jam could be the Led Zepplin of the 90's. Very deep catalog.

Very true, considering that most music people like Pearl Jam whether they like the genre of music that they brought to the table. EVERYBODY loves Zepplin.

I hate both bands with a passion.

Not that it matters. Nobody's opinion on music should matter to anybody else, unless you're a fakeass bitch who's just trying to fit in with a group of people for some reason. But I've already spoken at length about this particular topic.

Not referring to you, Addict, of course. Just speaking in generalities.

I hear you, I was just looking around at old CD's I had stored away at the house here and came across a couple mixes with Sublime/Nirvana shit on it. Couldn't help myself but dial up the question.

How about Sublime vs Janes Addiction?

I have a friend that's into JA big time. When I look at big time bands I always look at the head, and Nowell in my mind just kicks the shit out of Perry Farrell. I did buy STRAYS a few years ago for the hell of it, even though I'm not a big fan of JA. I still go Sublime.

Not even a contest!

Janes Addiction>>>>>>>>Sublime

And

Sublime>>>>>>>>>>>>>Nirvana

Anyone into what was really happening in Seattle during the Grunge era should go rent the movie "HYPE". Great documentary and footage from a lot of the seattle area bands, not just the ones that broke

In my eyes, Janes Addiction/Perry Ferrell killed Metal, not Nirvana. JA opened the doors for bands to play heavy music and melodic music and art music and not conform to the "scene". Ferrell far from a great singer, but he is a zen master...a pigs in zen master I should say. The guys from Pearl Jam opened for JA in the 80's when they were green river...They say JA changed everything for them in terms of music

Brad Nowell died far too young but hard to compare the two considering the different genres, although both are great surfers.

Sublime hit it big 10 years after Janes Addiction, shoot, by 1996 Porno for Pyros was on the outs, Nowell was overdosing, and he probably had no clue he was about to sell a few million records.
