So what do we know about this clown? From all i can tell, Atlanta is basically throwing this game away and focusing on tonight with Smoltz.

Opinions? thoughts?

Thats basically whats happening.

It would take a football score for the braves to win today.

I wouldn't go that far, but I agree with a Marlins play. Just a little curious as to why the line would be dropping on this one.

People are concerned about Mitre's Hammy since his last start was shortened. However, I read in the Herald that he feels 100% and ready to go today. Still, a bad hammy can give any time.

The bigger joke may be tonight with VandenHurk for the Fish. This guy is a pig. About to post a play on that one myself.

i feel this game soars over 9.5 as mitre may not be completely recovered and atlanta sends a pitcher to the mound with a horrible era. these two teams also have very potent offenses to put up runs. this game will go over in first 6 innings!!! GLTA!!!

like the marlins as well, but im not sure about o/u, mitre threw decent his last outing.

the second game looks like the marlins are giving that one away though.
The Marlins plan on calling up Rick Vanden Hurk (0-1, 12.75) from Double-A Carolina to start the nightcap. He has not pitched in the majors since April 24, when he started against the Braves and allowed six runs in one-plus inning without receiving a decision in his team's 11-6 loss.

The numbers actually support the team winning the first game winning the second as well. Historically, that's happened more times than a split.

Carlyle had a badstart at Phillie 5 runs in 4 innings. His previous start in the minors was poor 4 innings 3 runs. Before that in 30.1 innings of triple a ball he gave up 1 run. Thinking he is a stiff might be expensive with a Atlanta team that is 7-1 in second game of series after a loss when the opposition pitcher is coming off an injury.

The over is my choice as well...

Both teams have regualr lineups, not a lot of bench players in, so that made the choice easier
