The NBA Finals: The Cavs are playing the disrespected card?

The Cavs in my opinion are getting more respect then the Spurs. Despite people picking the Spurs to win the series all the media hype is surrounding Lebron James while the Spurs sit and are "witnesses" to the disrespect they are getting. Every story is about the "King", as they call him, while people continue to turn their backs on Duncan and the Spurs.

Duncan clearly has noticed the trend and seems to find good fun in it, but is there anything more disrespectful then not getting respect when you are a three time finals MVP and one of the best to ever play the game? Duncan doesn't have the media surrounding him or calling him the savior, hell he never has, but he is clearly one of the best basketball players this planet has ever seen. Sure Lebron has the flashiness and the high flying dunks but Duncan gets it done year in and year out.

The Cavaliers do not have as little chance as people are giving them but they also don't have a chance in this series in my opinion. In the Detroit series Lebron was clearly the best player on the floor and should have been, because Detroit doesn't have any superstars. But in this series it will be different, because Duncan can be the best player on the floor every night possibly. If Lebron isn't the best player on the court then Cleveland has no chance in this series, and the experienced and veteran Duncan knows how to win on this big Finals stage.

While more and more people are beginning to pick Lebron the more and more Popvich, Duncan and Ginobili are feeding off the lack of media attention and respect that they are getting. This team has been a dynasty in between dynasties. Although they have not won it every year they have been the fill in team between another dynasty, the Laker dynasty, and have consistently sat atop the Western Conference. They are not playing the defensive liable Dallas Mavericks and the Cavaliers don't have Shaquille O'Neal and Pat Riley to help him out in this series. The Cavaliers have had a great run but they are far from the disrespected team in this series.

Spurs in 5 games... The East will not win two championships in a row and Popovich won't get outcoached by Cavs coach..

Maybe 6 games cause Lebron is fucking amazing but that is it.. Spurs are toooooo good.

Far from disrespected? Name one person in the media who has gave the Cavs a chance to win it all?

Answer: No one.

Teams coming out of the east these days will always play the 'disrespected card', doesn't matter the team.

I think the series goes 6... But many think it is over in 4 or 5... I am one of the believers that the Cavs as a team aren't as bad as people make them out to be

They are the equivlant of the '79 ISU Bird's team when they faced Majic's team.

the home court advantage that cleveland has right now is amazing. and that is the reason this series will go a minimum of six games. there is no way cleveland fails to go 2-1 in their 3-game home stretch. their home court edge right now is massive and will keep them in the series. problem is that the 2-3-2 setup, imo, actually hurts them because they will likely have to close it out in texas and im not sure if that happens.

The Cavs can play any card they want - it won't change the results which are inevitable.

Spurs Vs Nuggets
H 2-1, A 2-0
Spurs Vs Suns
H 2-1, A 2-1
Spurs Vs Jazz
H 3-0, A 1-1
Overall Spurs
H 7-2, A 5-2

I see no reason to doubt that the Spurs can take 2 of 3 on the Cavs home court. The Spurs can give James his 25 to 30 pts a night and still take this series in 5. I'll be very surprised to see Gibson average much more than his season average of 9-10 pts a game. The Spurs are too deep and don't have the mental lapses for entended time, that other teams have, that would give a team like the Cavs hope. If James can somehow string together several repeats of Pistons game 5, than I can see the Cavs losing in 6, not 5.

i think the cavs are a fair shout at +550, if there is a prop where you needed the cavs to win just 3 games at around +300 it might be value. They will most likely choke in the end, but will give a fair effort, Lebron started believing, Varejao is as good as they come, Gooden looks good again, and pavlovic has to pick it up sometime.

didn't cleve barely win game 3 and 4? so i wouldn't call their home ct amazing. far from it. maybe against the east but your talking about a differnt animal now.

margin of victory is irrelevant. cleveland has been an exceptional home team since gilbert took over ownership. atmosphere is totally different in there. players have responded and fed off the crowd and vice versa.

bottom line is they went down 0-2 to a championship caliber detroit team and then seized control of the series with some outstanding efforts at home.

this talk about san antonio being some juggernaut is ridiculous. nobody in the nba is head and shoulders above anyone this year. san antonio is correctly installed as the favorite but if cleveland wins this series its not some earth shattering upset.

Wake up call !
Cavs have played the mighty West 16 times this year and are 13-3 ! They also have swept a home and away against the mighty Spurs !. Oh ! ... One more question ...Who won last year ? Miami Heat ? Hmmmm. Don't they play in the East ?
Oh yeah ... The East beat a highly favored West team last year also !
Take the + 400 or sit it out as I can't see any value play here on the Spurs at - 450 or higher.

Once again... kinda funny logic here ! The East beat the West last year so perhaps it is only the perception of the East that is ridiculous because Cavs are 13-3 against the West this year including 2-0 against the Spurs.

I agree with Prodigy. Nobody including San Antonio is head and shoulders above everyone else. THe Spurs are peaking though right now and they are more experienced and a little better team. I think it would be a decent size upset if the Cavs win as the line indicates.

I might be wrong, but I believe the cavs have won all their away games in the playoff's this yr. I still love the spurs the first game though.

Yeah, the East has held their own in the finals the past few years, but the West still gets all the attention from the media. That's why I said whatever team comes out of the east will play the 'we're getting no respect' card. Being better than a 4-1 dog is a bit disrespectful also if you ask me.

Btw I'm playing the Cavs for the series, they have to win one out of the first two to realistically have a chance imo.
