THIS WOULD REALLY HELP HIS CAREER. And get the people of CLEVE-town behind him from the start and should help secure him a starter position too as well.

Tuesday, June 5, 2007 Update: Quinn could be headed toward a contract holdout, according to a televised report on ESPNews. Recommendation: Quinn practiced for the first time with the team a few weeks ago as he began his quest to be the team's No. 1 quarterback. Considering he is a rookie and Romeo Crennel is the Browns' no nonsense head coach, a holdout of considerable length could seriously dampen Quinn's ability to be named the starter anytime in the early part of the season. We will continue to monitor this situation.

Get a fair deal, keep your nose clean (MANY MANY NFL er's can't) and make it back with a few good endorements. Be happy they drafted that big stiff from Wisky to block for you as well.

SO SO MANY DRAFTED HIGHER HAVE FALTERED: McNown, Mierer, McGuire, Leaf, Schuler, A Smith etc. etc.

Actually, I could see him being the second coming of Cryin Ryan Leaf. The more I think about it, the more I see that the writing is all over the wall.

I see how recent CLEV draft picks have worked out Couch, Winslow, William Green, Edwards.......... off the top of my head.

People need to calm down let the man's agent handle there business. This is all one big cat and mouse game. Picks are generally paid based on the amount the guy in the same spot last year got plus alittle extra. The 2006 nfl draft pick was Manny Lawson who got 4 million in a signing bouse and about 3.5 mil in base salary over the next 4 years if he doesn't get cut. I doubt San Franciso is going to have many Manny Lawson billboards across town. Any agent in there right mind is going to want to get Brady more cash because he is going to be one of the key players that Cleveland is going to use to sell the team to the city.

You gotta get your money when you can, an NFL player doesn't have many chances over there career to set there asking price so if they want to squeeze alittle extra out of the owner so be it. There were post like this about Reggie Bush holding out and that turned out a ok, people just need to let this game play out its nothing new. Cleveland wants to pay him according to what the 22nd pick last year got, Quinn's agent thinks that is a dumb idea there will meet in the middle and that will be that.

True but if he does hold out it hurts the player in a big way often times...especially a QB who needs time to develop. You are better off getting in camp and proving yourself. It is not that much less money and a smart career move.

Of course but just a bad PR move all the way around. As a BEARS FAN (no longer) I saw Curtis ENIS try this as well as BENSON, niether really helped them get any fan support or endorsement value.

True again however this is if in fact he does hold out and doesn't report to camp. Quinn's agents and let's face it Brady Quinn most likely has very little say in this just wants to let it be known that Quinn can or is willingly to hold out just in case Cleveland decides to come cheap with the offer. At the end of the day neither Cleveland nor Quinn would want a holdout. Since its more complex due to his falling in the draft this will go down to the wire before he signs but I doubt he holds out.

RIght. If he is just a ploy and he does not hold out then that is fine. Part of the biz like you said. As a general rule though, holding out is not smart for the player in football especially the QB (though at times I am sure it is justified).

1st round qb's get paid a little different that the normal "slotting". There will be incentives placed in there so he can reach top-10 money. Leinart had the same thing done last year so he could potentially reach top-3 money.

5-team - the Enis holdout was a disaster. Really bad for RB's to hold out as most only play at a top level for 5-6 years. QB's can last 12-15 years.
