He is a complete joke of a ball player and cannot be seriously considered to be an up and coming prospect. 1/12 BB/K's, 30% of his fly balls go for infield pop-ups (9% of all batted balls). He is literally one of the worst players on any major league roster so far. This should not be surprising when one ignores the hype from the cubs and instead looks at his production in the minors.

His season this year projects to (over a full season)...600PA, 140 hits, 10 BB, 120 k, 80 runs, 6 hr, 30 rbi, .237 BA, .250 OBP, .390 SLUG, .640 OPS!!!!! He is projected to have 10 fucking win shares in a 60AB season. 10!
(For those unfamiliar with win shares, the lowest total win shares for a center fielder in a season with 600PA or more since 2002, is 15, 50% more than the 10 he is on pace to amass).

I have no idea why he is with a big league club. With these numbers, he has already cost the cubs a few games with his atrocious lack of production. Now, for those of you who say he is still young, give him time; I will now prove you wrong also.

Jesus, just look at his minor league numbers (6 seasons).
Remember that guys who struggle in the minors rarely turn into good major league players. Usually you should try to do well in the minors first.
1/3 k/bb (atrocious for the minors. simply horrible. This suggests little hope of ever having a turnaround).

.812 Career OPS (in 6 fucking minor league seasons.) That translates to horrible major league numbers, which he has.

He is a horrible base stealer who obviously has no feel. 98 steals and 57 Caught Stealing!! That is a 63% clip!!! He hurts his team every time he steals. This will only go down in the majors.

This guy should not be considered a prospect. He kills any offense he plays in, and is only slightly more productive at the plate than a pitcher.
The only slightly redeeming quality he has is that he has good to very good range in the outfield (but not an above avg arm). All in all he is one of the best fielding center fielders with a chance to have his arm improve.

This is emblematic of the Cubs flawed organizational strategy, failing to realize that plate discipline is as much of a tool as hitting for avg, power, base running, arm strength or arm accuracy. They don't have any 6 tool players, and almost all their players lack the most important tool.

This guy is Corey Patterson 2.0, with less hitting ability and better defensive prowess.

I do believe he could be an excellent late inning defensive replacement, or maybe could develop into a platoon player. He does not deserve this massive hype however.

Agree with everything said in this post. Only thing he is good at is fighting off hard pitches. Besides that he looks slightly better than a pitcher at the plate with speed.

I don't hate the guy, I'm just annoyed with the cub broadcasters today.

Wow judging him a little soon don't you think... A lot of young guys struggle early... This is the major leagues man... Where do you get your stats at... no one can argue with you because I am not sure who even provides these statistics...

He had a day today that I would think about trading places with him (just for today's performance) in exchange for a year off my life.
