Thinking about switching from cable to DirecTV. They offer a few different packages. What does everyone think about it. Looking to get that 39.99 package per month for the 1st 12 months then it goes up to 49.99 after the first year. DOnt they have a $12 sports package with ESPNU, CSTV, all the Comcasts and FOXSports etc. I can add I think....

Likes/Dislikes?
Good/Bad?
If problems technical problems, how is the support?
Any other input/advice?

Thanks in advance.

Got both myself..Comcast full package ( Includes high speed internet run me close to 200 month plus couple fights a month..Direct TV runs close to 200 month cause I got all sport packs and just recently added Setanta sports so I can bet Rugy, Aussie football and Gaelic Games and bet on them:aktion033 ..

They are both great..Can pretty much be reached 24 hours cust service..I got DTV cause only they got NFL channel but heard ( Sunday Ticket) but heard Comcast may have it by next season..

In a nutshell- My Comcast has never gone out this year..Direct TV will take a shit on ya every half as rain storm..Both are paradise-Happy Viewing Amigo

DOG SHIT!

My normally perfect signal has a tendency to flake out on channels above 206 in the evening (NOT weather related). My dish may just need to be adjusted, buy their tech support doesn't think so. They want to charge me $100 to send someone out to look at it.

I'm about to go back to Comcast.

Direct Tv blows for the most part. Good luck w/ the outsourcing customer service. God forbid it rain. The only thing good is the NFL.

TT,

do they always charge a fee when there is something that needs fixed or what? That's not good....

Not sure. I think I've had it 2ish years & this is the first thing that came up.

I was shocked. Comcast sure as hell doesn't pull that shit.

Both are similar but Directv has ESPN gameplan and NFL SUnday ticket. That is the big difference. BIG DIFFERENCE for me. Othewise it is close and yeah maybe better easier service for comcast if you need it.

Not to hijack the thread, but does anyone have any good reasons why I would want to consider Dish?

I Love It. Hated Cable And Don't Like Dish. Cost Me At 200 A Month But Would Have Nothing Else. Very Rarely Does It Go Out When It Rains.

Directv is the best when all is said and done.

You have signal loss less than .5% of the time, and when you do, its normally just for a few mins.

I have had Directv for about 6 years and really like it. I would never go back to cable. I have had only about 4 outages. Once when it snowed about 20 inches and the other times when it rained real hard.

If you decide to get it, definately spend the $12 a month for the Sports Package. It is well worth it.

This is the first year I got the Baseball Extra Innings. It is absolutely the best money I have spent in a long time. I think I have missed only 2 A's games all year. (Watching as we speak...A's 3 Boston 0):aktion033

I would definately recommend Directv.

Was a Directv subscriber for nearly 10 years....until they started hijacking all of their rates on everything and I mean everything. Got sick and tired of all the bullshit, told their customer service people that it was a rip off how they increase rates all the time. Bunch of crap.
