Without CARP or MULDER and a 2-10 WELLS.

Exactly. This team didn't hit for a month and a half, and their 2 best pitchers are on the shelf. All they need to do is hang around until Aug 1st, then unleash Carp and Mulder.

The World Champs are coming for you, Brewers. And we will catch you, too. :dancefool

Why they thought Wells was an answer , I will never know.
It has not exactly gone according to the plan. But they got him cheap, and was probably worth the gamble. It has been a patchwork season so far, but the patches have worked out alright. Thompson has been flat out solid as a starter, and nobody saw that coming. They will be in the playoffs, and as they say......you never know! 2006 all over again????

Could you imagine if the Cards hang around and win the world series again.

It would be the worst back to back champ in the history of sports.

Carp and Mulder are jst going to suddenly jump in and be worldbeaters? Good luck with that. But yeah, I suppose this disivison is wide open enough for even STL to win.

I'll go out on a limb and say the disivison winner will be UNDER .500. Survival of the weakest.

Carp will. Mulder might.

So is this the starting 5 right now? Looper, Wainright, Thompson, Wells and Wellemeyer.

That's like a collection of #5 starters. Good luck with that.

They were the worst series champs of all time last year, and now have a chance to be the worst division winner of all time this year.

if they win the championship that means they must have beaten some good teams, right?

who cares if they weren't good comparitively
I think it pissed off a lot of people, because they all unloaded on Detroit and gave the Cards no chance. No other explanation for so many people being bitter on the Cindarella story. Before then, who ever hated the Cardinals? They are a classy organization.

Cubs will do it.... most talented team in the division. They just need to get hot again and they will be playing in October.

I hope the Cubs don't make it. After the Super Bowl I've had quite enough of the Chicago homers.
